Charlotte reception ideas

Hello all! I just recently got engaged and I am looking to at least get a time and a place set soon. Anybody have thoughts on good places for a reception? (I'm thinking either Southpark area or uptown).

Congratulations and welcome!  The ladies on here are SO helpful, they've made planning a lot easier for me!

I'm having my reception at the Ranson House in Huntersville, so that's not helpful for you (not near uptown or Southpark).  I know the Westin and Omni have beautiful event spaces because we used those for prom many years ago!

    Good luck planning!

I went to a wedding at the Whitehead Manor, it was beautiful.

It's straight down Fairview on the right at Sardis. La Tea Da's catered it. I have photos on my Facebook page.  Poprock Photography, the wedding album is Asher & Michelle.

congrats!! everyone on the board is fantastic, you will love being an NC knottie!

I am getting married next year at the Levine Museum of the New South. I just went to two weddings, one at the Mint Museum of Art (although it was the old location, so I can't speak on the new location) and one at Olde Providence Swim and Racquet Club, which is near southpark. both were beautiful.

I am attending a wedding in July at Morehead Inn, which is uptown, I really liked that venue too but it ended up not being quite the feel we wanted. I would also rec Byron's Southend, but it books up SUPER fast- over a year in advance for popular times!

I've had a really long engagement, so I've seen a lot of places, haha! Others I looked at were Providence Country Club; Piper Glen Country Club; Vanlandingham Estate; Roof with a View; and I think that's it!

Good luck and keep us posted! Putting the deposit down for the venue is super exciting!

    congrats and welcome.
Pretty much any hotel in downtown Charlotte is nice.  As far as my wedding I will be getting married at roof with a view, it's also in downtown.

We've attended a wedding reception at the Holiday Day Center City...it was a blast and atmosphere was great.  We loved having the reception on the rooftop during the evening.

The Morehead Inn and VanLandingham estates are beautiful spots.  Very "Southern Hospitality" feel.  I know the girl who does some of their wedding coordinating personally.

That's it for our Charlotte receptions I believe...

Hey guys! I am newly engaged too.  I am getting married in Charlotte as well, and I have yet to decide where exactly. I guess that is ok though because we have awhile to go! I need an idea of somewhere that is not too expensive, we are kind of on a budget.Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

also can someone please tell me how to get my ticker to show up with my post? Thank you!

    Pewter Rose or Duke Mansion

The Ivey if you like more of the "at home" vibe.  It's in SouthPark.

Freedom Park for an inexpensive venue.

A lot of people have their receptions at the Marriott or Renaissance at SouthPark.

    Pewter Rose is near Southend.

Raintree Country Club is reasonable I've heard.

Belk Chapel and Queens University is another place...very affordable.

I've attended a wedding at the Mint Museum of History in Charlotte as well.

I wouldn't recommend the Duke Mansion unless you are going to be able to pay $18K+ and that's for just food and venue.  Beautiful place though.
