Wedding Cost!

Re: Wedding Cost!

  • We're at $50,000 right now for 150 people. We still have several small things we still need to get so it will prob. be around $60,000 once all is said and done. Weddings are pretty expensive in CT as it is, but I think we're prob. on the high end for our area. We didn't start with a budget so it's very easy to get carried away!

  • We are at 25,000-30,000 for 125 peolpe. Jersey is very expensive especially North Jersey which is aliilte more than South where I am.

we're between 20,000 and 25,000. Trying to keep it on the low end. Venue is $80pp with about 170 invited and we had to garuntee 140. So as you can see the reception is almost half my total budget. But I saved on photographer (less than 2,000! for the smae stuff every else was asking at least 3,000 for!) and by having everything at one place I don't need transportation. We'll see, it may end up closer to 25,000-30,00 but I hope not.

  • This thread has reminded me to check with my mom on where we are. We dont have much of a set budget right now. My parents are contributing a certain amount, and FFIL is paying for the bar tab and rehearsal dinner. FI and I are covering the rest and hoping for 12-13k total.
The main issue with the setup is that my mom keeps adding expensive things!! She convinced me to go with the pricey florist (who I do love and am excited to work with), and wants to pick a buffet option that adds $4 a person to our total. (which was only 14 to begin with) but with 220 people, thats another $800+, but she doesnt seem to like any of my other ideas to save money, so Im stuck with her on that right now. Either she will have to help out more if she wants that, or...I dont even know.

And yes, my reception is only charging $14 pp for the buffet that includes 2 main entrees, 4 chilled salads, 2 types of potatoes, and a chef-attended pasta station.  This is one of the cheaper places in GR though, mainly because we are having our wedding on a Friday.

  • Our wedding budget is $2000.  FI is a bargain hunter and we are doing everything almost on our own.  So far we have not even hit $500.  Invitations and my dress will put us up to at least $700.  Then food is going to be possibly another $700.  He has it broken down into an exact amount on his computer.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Wedding Cost! : I feel you on this...ours is $159 pp...thank goodness we don't have nearly the guest list you do.

What the hell kind of food are these people having for 159 per person? What the?

Our wedding will fall in the 5,000 - 10,000 range - with about 80 guests invited. Hopefully around 8,000 and no more. I want to vomit just thinking about spending that much money..When I first got engaged, the budget was 5,000..psht..

Reception Venue and food is about 3,000. (Parents are covering this portion)

    The photography is 1,650.

    The cake is 290.

The dress will be no more than 300.

So..things are falling into place nicely.

Ugh, Amanda -- I feel you. For some reason, outside Philly, they are similarly expensive if you don't go the traditional hotel ballroom route. In fact, I've only been working with the budgeting spreadsheet for 150 guests because the one for 200 guests gives me a heart attack. We're inviting 210 (started around 180...people keep adding, saying "Oh, they won't ACTUALLY come!") and I am praying to all that is holy that around 175 is the total guest count.

All in (venue, photographer, videographer, florist, band, etc.), we are significantly over our budget which was originally $60k. To be fair, our venue is a blank slate and literally nothing is included except the venue itself. It certainly adds up.

I wish we could elope, but our families would have collective heart attacks.

  • choccovberry- Our wedding is going to be at our family church The New Ipswich Congregational Church and our reception is going to be at Hidden Hills in Rindge, NH in their courtyard. The cost is actually going to probably break down to more but not much.

  • It's fun to see that there is a huge range of costs! I can't WAIT to see everyone's pictures!

I'm in the 5-10K range, hoping to keep it near 7K (we have 8K budget). But, we are having less than 100 guests, no formal dinner, no alcohol, no DJ, no limo, no videographer, only a BM and MOH, and venue & reception are at the same place.

Ours is $200 per person but this price includes a full open bar. It also includes welcome champagne during cocktail hour, 15 different passed hot + cold hors d'oeuvres and different stations during cocktail hour, 5 course plated dinner, and then an italian dessert table.
