Is printing ok???

I have a diy kit for my invitations, and I just finished printing the RSVP cards and the return envelopes.  I have a great computer program, and aweful handwriting,  Would it be ok to print the outer envelopes too, with the same fonts/images, or do they need to be hand written?

Re: Is printing ok???

  • You can print directly on the envelopes.

  • Great...it might actually take a little longer....but it will make the envelopes look nicer.  I just know that a lot of women hire people to write their envelopes and stuff, so wasn't sure if it was improper to print them....directly on the envelope, not on mailing labels....

[QUOTE]Just curious.  How are you going to write your thank you notes?  They MUST be hand written.

I've already written one, and wrote a couple drafts first to make sure it looked nice.  My MIN has also offered to help me write them because her handwriting is very pretty
  • Printing directly onto envelopes is fine.

If you have your guest list on an Excel spreadsheet, use a Mail Merge to get the addresses onto a Word document, set your printer to the correct size for your envelope, and go from there. It's seriously SO easy! Google mail merge tutorial and you'll fine plenty of details :)

Or you could make really nice wrap label for the addresses with a design. Those are very pretty

I LOVE THOSE, what a great Idea.....do you know how I would go about doing that?
  • It's BETTER to hand write, but if all else fails, it's best to have clearly written addresses - and if you need to print directly on the envelope in a pretty font to achieve that, by all means.

It's proper to handwrite the envelopes yourself. I think the only exception is the return address. If you can't afford a calligrapher, there are a few techniques you can try. For my friend, we pre-printed the names on the computer in the size we wanted for the envelopes. Then our friend with a steady hand actually traced the words onto the envelope with a calligraphy pen. Just cut the paper to fit inside the envelope like a card. She used a clear Pyrex dish and shined a light directly above it to make the letters stand out. It's time consuming, but a heck of a lot cheaper than hiring someone.

  • Printing them would be okay. Manually writing them would be thoughtful though.
