shower gifts before shower

Hi ladies,
I know this has been asked in the past...my first shower is next Sunday and there are some friends who cannot attend and have sent me gifts before hand. I know it's just a week away, but I wanted to double check to see if I need to send thank-yous right away or should I wait until after the shower next Sunday? I just don't want to do the wrong thing!!

Send the TY notes now. There's no need to bring the gifts with you since those people won't be there. Plus, you'll be happy to do them now since you'll have more when the shower is over.
