Rehearsal dinner locations downtown? How far in advance to book?

Does anyone have recommendations for downtown rehearsal dinner locations? We'd probably have about 60 people. Also, how far in advance do you feel you need to book for a summer Friday? Thanks!

Book at least 10 months in advance if you can. In the summer, there is this huge oncology conference in town (ASCO) and the book all the restaurants. It was really hard for us to find a restaurant that they didn't already book. Look NOW if you haven't already.

Ditto the PP about booking as early as you can. What type of cuisine are you thinking?

    Agreed with pps.

What type of cuisine/price point are you hoping for?  What hotels are guests staying at?

Check with the tourism/convention board to make sure there isn't any major things going on for your wedding date. We booked ours 8 months out and were fine. If you want a popular location like Lou Malnati's the further ahead the better.

OK thanks... I guess I need to get on top of this!!

In terms of cuisine, it doesn't matter too much. Italian would be great. Really I just want somewhere with a private room that won't break the bank! Our rehearsal is in Old Town and the OOT guests are staying on the Gold Coast.

We booked ours 1 month in advance. But we only had 24 people in attendance, so they were able to just push tables together instead of requiring a separate room.

    Hmm okay, so for Italian:
    Maggianos
    Italian Village
    Quartino
    Coco Pazzo
    Marcellos (on North Ave)
not Italian, but they have a private room and it's on Wells in Old Town--O'Briens

Quartino's is pretty close to State/Division area and good with groups.

There's also the new Lou Malnati's (which obviously is pizza) on State/Rush

Try Topo Gigio. I have been to a rehearsal dinner there. They have a private room upstairs away from the rest of the restaurant. Its on wells just south of north Ave. The food is great and they have a private bar up there.
