Alternatives to "Here Comes the Bride"??

I'm getting married in 10 days and I can't decide what song to have played when I walk down the aisle. I'm not a fan of the here comes the bride. Can you girls give me some suggestions?

The only other song I've found that I like is Pachabel's Canon.

Re: Alternatives to "Here Comes the Bride"??

  • Have you thought about something that isn't classical? I thought about Louis Armstrong "What a Wonderful World" and my fsil did a song that meant something to them!
  • Prince of Denmark's March-Jeremiah Clarke
    Trumpet Tune-Purcell
    "Spring" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons
    "Autumn" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons
    Bach-Arioso
    Handel-Water Music
    Bach-Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
    Marcello-Psalm XIX
    Beethoven-Joyful, Joyful We adore Thee
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

OMG I forgot about this song. I love this song. it is from the movie Love Actually. Thank you!
  • Trumpet Voluntary
    Rondeau by Mouret
  • I was supposed to walk down the aisle to the piano version of "1000 Words" from Final Fantasy X-2.  The attendants jumped the gun on walking down the aisle, so we walked out to one of the prelude songs, a piano version of "Eyes on Me" from Final Fantasy VIII.  Ah well.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I'm using "something beautiful" by needtobreathe! i love it!
  • I'm using "This Is My Beloved" from Kismet.
  • From the modern take on Romeo and Juliet, I always loved Desiree's "Kissing You."

  • I second Vitamin String Quartet.

They have a lot of covers of popular songs but they sound very classy
  • Theme from Romeo and Juliet
    Claire De Lune
And I might get flamed for this but... there is an awesome (to me) CD of Disney Princess love songs on strings/ guitar. They actually mostly just sound like classical guitar music but if you listen its like..." I know this song!"
My baby Buster. FI is jealous cause I love him more.

  • We used La Rejouissance (Music For the Royal Fireworks) - Handel.  All of our ceremony music (with videos so you can hear what they sound like) can be found at this link.
  • I 3rd the Vitamin String Quartet

I'm thinking of their version of "Drops of Jupiter"

  • I will be walking down to "Ribbon in the Sky" by Stevie Wonder.  He proposed to me while the band we met dancing to sang it at my birthday party.

That is a really lovely song.  Nice choice!
  • My fiance made the suggestion for  me to walk down to "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.
  • You might also try looking into movie soundtracks/scores. Many of them have beautiful songs, such as 'Romantic Flight' from the movie 'How To Train Your Dragon'.
  • Depending on how traditional you'd like it... I am walking in to Ave Maria played on piano, no vocals. I've loved since I was a little girl.
