Thanks for the T&P Ladies!

Thanks to everyone who Posted T&P for me on Monday regarding my friend!

She was admitted to the hospital and is still there. Thank goodness her dad was able to fly out, so she does have family with her now. Apparently they believe that she has a bacterial infection that has landed in her heart. She is extremely weak, they weighed her in Monday at 90 lbs., she has a temp of 104 and she's barely able to eat. It takes 48 hours to grow the culture...so we should have a confirmed diagnosis sometime today. Once confirmed, they will be able to give her ridiculous amounts of antibiotic through her IV.

It is amazing how many friends and family members have gotten touch or actually visited at the hospital...people I haven't seen or heard from in years. She's had some amazing support through the past couple days....hopefully we'll hear good news soon!

My goodness...that sounds terrible.. I hope that they are able to figure it out and get antibiotics in her quick.  I'm glad she has family that came though.

I felt so bad that she was all alone at the hospital for a few hours before anyone could get there. She went in for a scheduled appointment and had no idea they would be admitting her. It's nice to know that someone is with her full-time now. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

That's so great she's not alone anymore in there.  That's really really scary, I'll keep her in my T&P & hope they figure out what it is quick!!

I hope she gets better soon!!  Bacterial infections are no joke, especially once they get into your blood but thankfully they've found it and can start treating it!!

I'm glad to hear that your friend's dad was able to come out and that they might have a diagnosis soon!

As you know- (or at least I thought we talked about this)- my mom has spent her fair share of time on the hospital.

    Here are her favorite things:
Lifesavers- the air is filtered at hospitals and your mouth can get dry
Favorite Lotion- for same reason above
Universal Remote Control- Seriously- you can program the TVs, because the remotes embedded in the hospital beds totally suck. (This is our all time favorite hospital secret- and programming the remote would give her dad something to do).
Ear plugs- sometimes people make a lot of unncessary noises in the hospital- these things are a godsend.
Super soft socks- because who doesn't like super soft socks?
Magazines- Being in the hospital is a good time to catch up on gossip

Have you and your dad already got her the basics? Her own under garments, her own robe, possible travel sizes of her own shampoo/condition/body wash? Maybe one of her favorite pictures from home?

Thanks for the list Lunar! Some of these I had thought of....but some were not on my mind at all! Her dad is staying at her apartment, so I would imagine he has brought her some of the necessities by now. I'm planning to give her a call later this morning and check in - I'll ask her if she wants/needs any of the items from your list for sure!
