Dress Reconstruction needed!! China Knock-Off=bad idea

Sooo I made a major mistake and purchased a dress online from sino-treasure.com. It was a knock-off of a Casablanca gown that I saw on Pinterest. I read the reviews and I was confident until I received the dress. The lace they used is HORRIBLE and tacky(it looks like tulle and all you see is the zipper). The dress fits great and I love the look but the lace looks NOTHING like the pictures they advertise.

I'm obviously on a budget(my reason for going that route) and I need to find someone in DFW that fix the lace part for me. Anyone know of a good alteration/dress maker around here?

I would take the dress to a few seamstresses and see what they can do. Although, because of the price of decent fabric, it may be cheaper for you to buy a different dress. Try looking on the sites for a used dress, maybe you will find the casablanca dress you wanted in the first place.

CMGr is absolutely right.

I used $70/yd lace for the body of my DD's wedding dress (this was nice, but so-so lace - similar French Alencon lace was $256/yd) and then used expensive French Alencon lace just for the trim around the hem and bodice. The materials for the dress cost about
$900.

The so-called "lace" on your dress is the reason your Chinese knock-off was so cheap.

I'd keep looking for a new dress - labor and materials for re-doing your dress would be likely more than a good used one or one on sale.

Too bad you were not forewarned about buying a dress from an online site. THe old saying holds true, you get what you pay for. That being said, a good seamstress can probably help you, but may be afraid of having to re-do the dress entirely-not worth her effort.
You may have better luck buying a new gown. Chalk it up to experience.
