Need help with venues!

So I have looked almost everywhere for places that are low in price, that we can hold the ceremony and reception in the same place, and where we don't have to use a specific caterer but I am kind of at a loss. We were thinking about the Nunnlea House, but that would pretty much force us to do a small ceremony because the front yard is too close to Hurstborne and the noise level will be too high for some guests to hear probably. I wanted to post this to see if anyone had any unique ideas as to what we could possibly do about this. I want an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception with a low price and we can use our own caterer, as I said before. Does anyone have any creative ideas or places they know of that would work. I have checked almost all the regular ones in Louisville and need to see if anyone on here knows of any. I even looked at some bed and breakfasts and some may work but I really don't know. PLEASE HELP!!!

Mellwood is really the only one I can think of.  We are having ours at 300 Spring in Jeffersonville and I'm starting to regret it.  We have a select list for the caterers.  It's proving to be more expensive than I thought :-(

Yeah. That's exactly why I want to find a place where we don't have to pay for catering. It's waaaay too much. Sorry you are dealing with that though :-(

Have you checked the Sawyer-Hayes Community center? Inside it can hold up to 192, it was not big enough for us or I would have probably picked it.

UofL's Shelby campus (Esatend) has a newly remodelled venue for weddings. Their pricing is $750 for the entire day, and you don't have to worry about splitting your guests into separate areas, you can all be in the same room. Plus, you don't have to worry about parking like you do at some places downtown, and there's outdoor space too. You can have your reception and wedding in the same building or room same room if your prefer, but there's no extra charge to use a different room. There are plenty of bathrooms and they're brand new! Something that was important to me was coordinating everything (linens, chairs, decor, flooring, etc.) at Shelbyhurst you can get pretty much everything in one place but the cake. Best of all you can bring in your own caterer. They also have a specialist there to help you allday and prior to your wedding. Seriously, it's great for the price. Check out their facebook page for pics- http://www.facebook.com/UofLWeddings. Hope this helps

I'm having my wedding/reception at Mellwood.  I know it's not outdoors, but it's a great price & a great venue!

I am having mine at Mellwood as well. I went with them because I can use any outside vendor I want. The price for my room (event room 2) was only $995 which is great you get it from 8a-2a for set up, the event and clean up.

I check the Louisville Shelby campus and you can't get the room for the $750 they say you can, it will end up being double cause they will charge you for a percentage of what you cater cost is. I would have even gotten a discount for being a UL alum and it still wasn't worth it. But thats just me.

That was our main requirement when looking for a venue - finding one that would allow us to use our own caterer and doesn't require us to pay them anything in addition to the cost of the room.  We went with Mellwood too!  Have you checked out Gingerwoods?

I went to a wedding at Nunnlea, and it was beautiful. The ceremony space was in the back, away from the road on a quiet cul-de-sac. I could hear everything just fine, and it was gorgeous.

How big of a ceremony was it? How many people did you have there?
