Fur Babies: I didn't understand this, but we want to have 7 children, lol

<strong>Fur Babies = pets. 7 kids is a lot! Is that a Mormon thing, because most of my Mormon friends want to have around that many kids too! I don't think I could handle that though.</strong>

So I guess the higher snarky score, the more bridezilla you are? lol

Waiting can be a bummer, depending on what is your purpose and your reason of waiting, as long as you have that clear, it will be easy for you to abstain.  The best of it is that you focus on other aspects of your relationship like knowing each other better, sharing spiritual experiences and seeking for new activities to have fun.

Yes, mormons like to have a lot of kids, lol. But in my country is not like that, my BF and I are an exception, we both always wanted to have exactly 7 kids, when we started dating that was the first topic we talked about (we don't know why we started talking about it) and we got surprised that we both wanted to have 7 kids!

A "fur baby" is a pet- cat, dog, bird, ferret, rabbit... those things with fur that live with you and kind of take over your life.

Also, about the grammar and spelling nit-pickers:

Lighten up, kids. I think grammar is important, too... but so is being polite to relatively reasonable newbies.

Maybe this is me being picky, but I hate that expression. Are some people overly picky about grammar? Yes. Does that make them a Nazi? No.

De, I understand the abstinence concept, but I don't think that means you should automatically focus on the idea of marriage so quickly. Two months is a short time, and while 2013 is a while off, I just don't think it's wise to focus on marriage so soon to help with abstaining.

However, I do encourage you to stick around if you'd like. And definitely enjoy your relationship at its current stage (which I'm sure you are). Is Spanish your first language then? Your English is fairly good, considering it's your second language.

<div>Well, we beleive that the purpose of having a serious relationship is no other than marriage (not wedding), then, why not to focus on that when you feel sure that you are with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with?  I am not focusing on it to help with abstaining, notice that I've been in abstinence even before getting to know my BF.  When you are sure about something, you are, and there is no explanation of it, the only way you could understand our point of view should be having the same experiences, beleifs and minds that we have.  The only reason why we don't get married sooner is because we need to prepare in financial ways and because of some other things we have to organize so things don't turn very difficult in our marriage.  People that don't know us get worried about it, but our friends and family think we are ready to get married...</div><div>
</div><div>Thanks for your comment about my English ^^,</div>

Haha that's wonderful, De. I understand and relate to the idea that a serious relationship is to lead towards marriage, and I support that personally myself. But I think that can also be something to be wary of in case things don't work out after a while. Basically, work towards seeing if that is where you will be after a while but don't count on it already. Does that sort of make sense?

Spanish is such a beautiful language, I would love to learn more of it someday. But for now, I'm just focusing on French ;) I studies Spanish for just a year in school, but I was recently in Peru which made me realize how little I know! So I'm often jealous of people who speak multiple languages so well.

Okay, since nobody else is saying this, I guess I will. Amethyst, you are ridiculous. Your correction of the OP's post was just... I don't even know how to describe it, because nit-picky is far too tame. It just seemed like a desperate attempt to fit in by "flaming" a newbie. Then your second post in the thread with an entirely different tune just proves my point.

I get pointing out grammatical errors when the post is legitimately hard to understand, or if the person is flaunting their level of education or 'English skillz', but the OP did neither. So, really, your post was just plain unnecessarily mean. At least when I'm a bitch there's a reason behind it.

Don't worry about that. You'll find a mix of opinions here, but for the most part we're able to have polite debates even if we don't necessarily agree with each other.

And by the way, snark is a slang term for sarcasm. You might see it used a bit around the various Knot boards.

I'm calling myself out before someone else does.  I'm one of the grammar sticklers around here, and proudly so.  I think the way a person chooses to communicate says a lot, and intentional or excessive errors really bug me.

Nevertheless, I spent over a year counseling international students on visa issues, and I know ESL writing when I see it.

I agree with this. It's one thing to say "It's hard to understand what you are trying to say because you have some confusing grammatical errors and I don't really get where you're trying to go with this post." It's another to go through and start picking out every little thing and be a jerk about it.

I know, we've gotten past it in this thread... but it happens somewhat often and it's really terrible since you really have no idea who is on the other side of the internet and what their situation is. The comment about concentrating on her literacy instead of an engagement was way over the top as well.

Good grief, I have a friend who dropped out of high school to raise her 4 younger siblings when her mom took off suddenly and her dad had to work overtime just to feed them and keep a roof over their heads. She has terrible grammar and her spelling isn't great, either. But I would NEVER make her feel bad about it. That chick is amazing for putting her own education aside to make sure her siblings stayed in school and out of trouble when she wasn't much older than they were.

Yes, grammar is important. Yes, there is a spell check button. But you just plain don't have to be such a jerk about it.

De V, I'm glad you stuck around in spite of those comments. Welcome to the board.

You know what I just realized?

I have a friend who has a square diamond, but instead of the traditional horizontal placement, it's tipped so that the uppermost part is a point instead of one of the sides. Does that makes sense? Basically so the placement is more similar to a marquis type shape. It really works with her hands and her ring.

Which made me remember that a square is a rhombus, so maybe DV is getting a square shaped diamond?

I don't know why I'm so fascinated by this. Maybe b/c rhombus/rhomboid are superfun words.

    I'm a nerd, I know.

[QUOTE]You know what I just realized? I have a friend who has a square diamond, but instead of the traditional horizontal placement, it's tipped so that the uppermost part is a point instead of one of the sides. Does that makes sense? Basically so the placement is more similar to a marquis type shape. It really works with her hands and her ring.  Which made me remember that a square is a rhombus, so maybe DV is getting a square shaped diamond? I don't know why I'm so fascinated by this. Maybe b/c rhombus/rhomboid are superfun words. I'm a nerd, I know.

I've seen that before and I think it's really look.  It's like... a diamond-shaped diamond.  One jeweler referred to it as a being a "kite-set" princess.

Well, it is not my ring (yet!) and now I see that is not exactly diamond-shaped, it is more like oval or like a leaf.
