June 2010 Weddings

june 18/19/20 brides

hey ladies.

I've been racking my brain to figure out how to honor our dads for father's day either at our wedding, or at our brunch on Sunday.

I'm just curious what you are doing? Inspire me please!

I appreciate it!

Re: june 18/19/20 brides

  • We're doing Fathers Day the Sunday before. I figure once we party all night, try to sleep, pack our honeymoon stuff, say goodbye to the kids & bring them to my parents, it will be time for us to head to Boston. I just dont want to rush it or not have time for it, so ours will be a week early.
  • Haven't thought about it and will probably just mention something extra special at the RD or the reception when we give our speeches. I love my dad and all, but for us, Father's day was a bigger deal when we were little and I know he understands that I am getting married and will be busy to really plan anything.

  • We're getting married on the 18th and we figured we'd just slip our dad's their gifts at some point during the reception.   Our wedding is at 6PM with the reception going till 1AM so I'm sure we'll find the time in their plus its all at one location so that's 7 hours to mention father's day.

  • I'm not a bride that weekend, however, at the rehearsal dinner I'm doing something special for my dad. Long story short, I was in a sorority and in the fall for seniors there's mother/daughter day where the girls each give speeches honoring their moms. In the spring their's a father/daughter dance and ditto the speeches. The problem is I deactivated from my sorority before hte last semester due to lack of time and so my dad never got his speech. He used to be pretty devastated about it.

So now at the rehearsal dinner, I'm going to surprise him with a mini-speech.

  • I never even thought about doing something to honor the father's in the crowd. I don't think it's a MUST by any means.
