Back-ne and scars, help!

I've very recently developed some post-adolecont acne on my back and shoulders, the big red kind that are leaving red and dark scars. Even starting treatment, I'm only a month away from my wedding and have a strapless dress. Any tips on covering them up/fading them fast?

Re: Back-ne and scars, help!

  • I suffered with adult acne for years and went through the rounds of pills, creams, and Acutane. What a lot of these products have in common is vitamin A. If you use the yolk of an egg, which has a lot of vitamin A in it, as a mask on your back about three days a week until the wedding, you may start to see results. I would also combine this with a topical ointment for  pimples at night. If you are exercising, make sure you are showering right after and gently exfoliating with a mild soap like Dove, which my dermotologist recommended for me on a regular basis. Drink tons of water and relax, you should look fabulous! Regarding scars, I used to spend 2 hours a day on makeup because I was so embarassed to leave the house. Make-up-Forever had a skin colored pencil for precision cover ups. I don't know if they make it anymore, but I know that Prescriptives makes one as well. After using the pencil, pat with translucent powder to finish and set. Good luck!

Is there a place nearby that does back facials?  The sooner, the better ...
  • I have a few too and I just used cover up to cover my acne anywhere and scars that were showing.  For my back where I have a few I had a BM help.

  • i get some back pimples too usually inbetween my shoulder blades. I noticed that if I opt for a bath a few nights in a row rather than a shower they develop. I also have long hari so I make sure that before I get out of the shower I rinse my hair and hold it up off my back and rinse my back again, sometimes the conditioner residue gets trapped underneath my hair and never gets rinsed off my back.

  • Tea tree oil helps a lot. It seems to dry everything out. I'd recommend diluting it slightly though.
