mother-son dance?

my fiance wants to eliminate this all together, he doesnt really get along with his mother but i think it would severely hurt her feelings and cause a lot of problems. we are making so many allowances for her already so we avoid as many problems as possible but how in the world are we going to tell his mother that there will be no mother-son dance...personaly i feel it would be awkward anyway, as i dont think i will be elimitating the fater-daughter dance and i just have no idea what to do...

    Unfortunately, I don't think you should do much.  This is between your FI and your FMIL. 

    If she asks you about it, say that it is something she and your FI should talk about and work out.

    Just don't mention it until she does. Then, let your FI deal with her. Try not to stress!

    There is nothing wrong with having a father-daughter dance with no mother-son dance. It is FI's decision to make. If he doesn't feel close enough to his mother to dance with her then he shouldn't be forced into it. I just wouldn't discuss it with her. If she brings it up tell her she needs to talk to her son about it and change the subject.

    has she actually brought it up?  I only ask because my MIL hadn't even heard of it until I asked her if she wanted to do one (once she knew it was possible, though, she was all over it and it actually turned into a big thing but that's another story for another day).

    My point is, if she hasn't asked about it, I would just pretend it doesn't exist.  I think it's a relatively new trend.  A father-daughter dance is perfectly fine without a mother-son dance IMO

    she doesnt know about the wedding yet, my name is a swear word in her house.. the only family member that knows is my mother, but his mother just takes things beyond a whole new level. she has made both our lives hell and im sure she knows about it but shes oblivious to the fact that her son doesnt want to be around her...shes one of those the world revolves around me so shove it people.... i hate to talk badly about her but its the god's honest truth.
