How does the whole dress thing work for plus-sized women?

Ok, so I'm seeing that at most stores, the sample size is a 10.

How does this work for plus sized women? Am I not going to get to have the fun/tear-jerking dress shopping fun? Or do some places carry plus sizes?

The store I was at on Saturday had sample sizes up to 20. I would call some of the local stores and ask them what sizes they have in stock. They might be able to suggest other stores in the area that had a better selection.

I know Macy's Bridal always carries plus-sized dresses, at least 5-10 of them.

I'd also post this on your local board to see if there are other brides in your area that can recommend bridal shops in the area that do carry plus sizes.

Or like the previous poster said, you can call a few shops in the area to see what they have and base your trips on that.

Like PP said, David's has plus sizes in store. I bought my dress from a sample size 10 at a local shop, but it is Alfred Angelo which goes up to 28. I ended up getting a 16. The consultant just clipped the dress to my bra on the sides, so I could get an idea of how it fit, then explained how the middle would look on my body type.
Ex:

Good luck! And don't get discouraged w/ the sample sizes out there, good consultants can fit ANY body type. HTH!

my dress is an alfred angelo, and im a plus sized bride. I LOVE IT! the sample i tried on was a size 22, im not a 22 though, more like an 18, hopefully a 16 before the wedding, so it needs some alterations.

Well, darn. We don't have an Alfred Angelo in our state! Hmm. But we'll definitely look at David's Bridal and call around. I did post in my local board and got some ideas there too. I'll make sure to call ahead. Thanks everyone! I was starting to get upset at the idea of not getting to shop.

I'm a plus-sized girl too, and DB was great! That's where I bought my gown from...and for me, the size of the gown was the same as my normal size ^_^

The Bridal Collection has plus size gowns up to 32 I believe. And they're a fabulous boutique who will give you the attention you deserve! Theyre in the Denver Tech Center.

This may be a bit presumptuous, but I'm going to assume she's not going to want to make a trip from Texas to Colorado to shop for dresses.
