Certainly they are a personal preference. I think they're ugly.

Sorry hun. I think they're tacky... if you really want to incorporate military with your garter belt you can go to this site- these are much nicer (my friend used this site). www.gartersbygingersnap.com/" target="_blank">www.gartersbygingersnap.com

If you don't mind if it's a regular garter, there is a lady that makes garters for free if bride is military or is marrying someone military. This is who I used, and her work is amazing (she asks you what color your wedding is and matches the garter to it!) I really love it!

    FOR MILITARY BRIDES TO BE:
I make a free wedding and toss away garter to show my appreciation for the military.

    INFO I NEED:
    1. Name and address to send the finished garter
    2. Wedding colors
    3, Color of wedding dress
    4. Approximate wedding date

Ladies, it is important you email me when you receive your garter. I worry it was lost in the mail when I don't hear from you.

REQUESTS TAKEN THRU THIS EMAIL ONLY----

I have no preference. My FI really likes them so I got a cute Army one from David's Bridal.

Rach- get this. My Fi hasn't really asked for anything in the wedding. He is laid back and just goes with the flow. The one thing he really, really wanted? Camo koozies as favors. I got a smaller amount of camo koozies with the infantry cross rifles on the back for him and some cuter, girlie, ones with our college mascot.

I too cringe at the entire garter thing but I told FI I would wear one because he wants to do the whole garter toss thing.  My FI is an Air Force CPT and I'm an Army SGT so not only do we have the "service rivalry" going on we also have the "enlisted/officer rivalry". We're constantly going back and forth about which is better and which is smarter. Anywho...I found these...out of all the one's I've seen THESE are definitely the nicest looking and it has the service emblem on it and the camou is not to "overpowering".  Check them out...

Just an idea, you may want a new SN. It's not a good idea to have your first and last name in your SN. Maiden or married.

I am totally using one. I want something to represent it a little bit, but there's going to be pink and stuff. I'm just playing with it because I think they're funny but that' s just me.

I'm still on the fence about the whole garter toss in general. I was set against it, but after we mentioned to my grandma that I didn't want to do it, she said, "Oh come now, even I had a garter. Don't be a prude." I lost that argument. I just had a plain blue one that my neighbour made for me. I don't think I'd go with the camo one - it's a little over-the-top for my taste.

I think that garters are a fun tradition! I've found several options, camo, one with the Army emblem, and a stars and stripes one. I just want one that will be a fun little surprise for him and will make him laugh, I'm not taking it seriously, it's all in good fun. Think I might go with the stars and stripes.

I actually like them...but with all things, some can be tacky, some can be cute.  NeColeMonet posted the ones from DB.  I'm using one of those, and I couldn't be happier.  But it's total personal preference.

ahh i'm reading lots of "it's tacky" 's so i had to respond

i bought a camo garter years ago knowing i would use it and i'm excited to!
i've always felt like the garter ceremony/toss is absolutely ridiculous in itself (in a funny way) so i felt like adding to the ridiculousness of it would be hilarious!
it's not like you are wearing it on your head for the world to see!

i would do it, people would get a kick out of it, especially if it was a surprise for your groom!

i also got my army garter at david's bridal like those above

It depends on how it looks. I am making mine out of a pair of his old cami's. 80% of the garter will not be camo, and only a small part will be which will be personalized because it is his uniform.

I got one from David's Bridal, as well, and everyone thought it was the cutest idea! They can't wait to see it as part of our wedding! I love the idea of a camo garter! All of your guests will too, I'm sure!

I didn't want to get one that was too over the top with lace and all that girly stuff that I'd probably like since the garter isn't for ME!

If you don't want to do it though, then don't. If you like it and think your man will too, I say go for it girl!

Im 100% getting a camo. We are both in the Air Force so that one thing makes us who we are i guess a touch of personalization I saw them on ebay and i think they look good.

I used to think they were tacky unitll FI picked one out that was actuatly cute from card and party factory. Just so you know, they also have pink ones, if your FI is set on camo and your set on cuteness then go with the pink one for him for the throwing garter and then find one you love to wear above it to be the one you keep

Here is what we I did....I took a pair of my husbands old BDU's and had my sister make a garter out of the fabric. She used the drawstrings to create a small bow and then attached his name tag to the garter. Everyone, most importantly my husband, LOVED it.
