Help! Unique program situation.

I am working on drafting my wedding programs, but have come to a road block. My fiance has a unique family situation. His parents were divorced when he was young. His father was remarried, but sadly passed away in 2005.

My problem at the moment is that I have no idea who should be listed under the parents of the groom heading. His mother will be the first listed. But I am not sure about how to list his deceased father and if his step-mother should be listed.

I have heard people say to write: Mother's Name
Step-Mother's Name and the late Father's Name

...but others have said this is not proper.

Any suggestions?

[QUOTE]You could use "family of the groom" for him and include his mom and stepmom and then have his father acknowledged in an "In Memoriam" section.

  • I don't think  it's proper to list deceased people as "parents" as if they were in attendance.  As a guest I would find this confusing and weird.

Under "Parents of the Groom" I would list:

Mrs. Sally Smith, mother of the groom
Mrs. Jane Jones, step-mother of the groom

then list Mr. John Jones, father of the groom in an "in memoriam" section.

    I agree with all this.
  • Ditto Avion exactly. Does FI want them all included?
