Wedding Woes

Alright, help me with a cooking question

I have a huge stockpot with 18 eggs in it.  I was waiting for the water to come to a boil before removing from heat.

I remember seeing the time when I started the burner - 8:49am.  I left the pot uncovered at medium heat and just realized it was still on.  The clock now says 9:13 and the water was not boiling.

The damn things were over heat for almost a half hour.  Are they fine?

  • Yes. The yolks will be gray, but they're fine. I did this a week ago.

They are fine.  Sometimes it takes a large pot a long time to boil.   Also, don't you know that a watched pot never boils?

ETA: I completely misundersttod what you were saying.  Sorry.  They're still fine.
  • But I wasn't watching it!!!!

Pmeg - were the yolks weird tasting?  We never eat these after we dye them so I was going to force myself to do something with them this year.

  • I made egg salad with mine and they tasted fine. The only thing nice was that mine were really easy to peel.
  • That makes me feel better.
