There is no way in the world that I would pay $80 for a rope. I'm pretty sure I know someone that would though.

At my old job we had a game of tug of war at the company picnic. The lady who does their media stuff also plans all the parties and buys everything for them. About 60 of us lined up for this tug of war game. Adults were on the ends and kids in the middle. Rope is placed and we're told to pull. I was near the back and we hadn't even started to pull yet when the rope snapped and smacked the kids near the middle in the face. Good thing that I worked at a doctor's office. All the kids were fine and well attended to.

So that Pottery Barn rope is marketed towards people that made bad rope decisions before!

Meh, I worked in the marine industry. Ropes that you should use for tug-of-wars are expensive. Then the time to make loops. I might be inclinded to buy one.

Not from Pottery Barn though. Let's face it when you think of lawn games, Pottery Barn is not normally on your go-to list.

As you can see on that list, there are some pretty serious tug of war ropes that get a lot more expensive.

I guess I can't think of a single time in my life where I would personally need a tug of war rope to begin with. I don't think I've played that game since elementary PE class. Maybe that's just me though.

I love looking for completely unecessary items and making up scenarios I'd possibly use them in. Maybe a high quality rope would come in useful during the zombie apocolypse. You never know. Just like that page turning device in Skymall magazine. What if I can't turn the pages, man? What then?
