[QUOTE]I was one of the few people wearing a short dress at my prom in 2007. Came off the clearance rack at the Deb for $7.00, yayy. The big trend I remember was pick ups, pick ups, pick ups. Everyone had them.

I find the bold really funny. My prom was in 2007 and no one had pick ups except me. Everyone had the skin tight silky dresses.

Fun! I'll play. I went to three, but at the moment can only find pics I've uploaded from my Senior year. I graduated in '97 ( that makes me feel old!).

    I'm the shorty in blue:)

ETA: Found one from Junior year. Apparently I liked sparkly dresses back then.

  • My school didn't allow the crazy cutout dresses that are popular these days, but there were plenty of tight things. I went more classic with a princess-esque a-line gown that tied down the sides. It was scandelous because I coudln't wear a bra. Lol. My hair cost about 50x what my dress (yay store closing store and $9 prom dress) did after it was cut, dyed, and had pearls and extensions threaded through it to give it more poof.

In all, the prom was pretty bad. A senior had died in a freak accident the week before and it turned into a ode to the cheerleader. I was having an identity crisis and took my gay best friend. Kinda wish I skipped the whole thing. Ah well. At least it was 13 years ago!

  • Here is a picture of me at Senior Ball. I am in the middle this was 10 years ago in 2003.

  • I went to prom in 2003 and EVERYONE had a two piece it felt like. I had the body for it, but I still felt like it was a dumb trend. So glad I listened to my gut.

Wow, that's funny. It's crazy how different things are from place to place. I do remember seeing the skin tight ones in all the magazines and stuff, but no one at my school had them. Or at least very few.
  • oh my goodness; I just stumbled upon the movie Wish Upon a Star; which I'd totally forgotten about.

Why did we ever think white/silver lipstick was a good look?

  • My high school prom was um... 25 years ago. But, my partner and I did go to the gay prom a few years ago.

  • I can't find pics from my prom cause it was a really, really, really long time ago...1985. I found this pic on google though and it could easily have been my friends and me. Ah the 80s!

My prom was in 2003 too, and I think we had a few girls who braved the two piece ensemble, and those who did, were unfortunately the girls who also had quite the track record of guys through HS. Two piece prom dress equated to an "easy pass" at my HS.

  • @ Kate-- my sister and I LOVED that movie when it came out. I watched it a few years ago and thought, "God this is stupid", but in a totally nostalgic, funny way.

  • Okay, so I have no pictures from either of my proms, but that's okay because they both sucked anyway. But I loved my dress from senior prom sooo much, and I recycled it for a winter formal in college (yes, that's my husband, or rather boyfriend back then)

It made me feel like a 1930s film star.

[QUOTE]I hated Clueless when it first came out. Now I wanna go home and watch it. "She could be a farmer in those clothes" Anyone else remember the super cute 2 piece prom dress from "10 things I hate about you" ?

that movie came out my freshman year of HS and I swore by the time I could go to prom, I would wear that dress! HAHA I loved it and her hair!

no pictures but junior year I wore a 2 piece not as bad as some of you are describing it was a straight long skirt and cut off tank top (purple and sparkly!) senior year I did the tight number black with GLITTER EVERYWHERE! that was 2001 and 2002!

    Yay to '97!

I felt the same way when Clueless came out, but I kind of love it now. Paul Rudd is kind of adorable in that movie.

are these the type of cutouts everyone is referring too? That is Classy!!!

But seriously, I don't have any accesible pictures of my dress. I remember it was a two piece number, a light blue tank with a line of sequins across the top, and a big light blue satiny ballgown skirt. I loved that dress!! Now, i wouldn't be caught dead in it. I wonder if preggo prom girl feels the same way!
  • I finished high school in 2002 in Canada, so we had a grad, not a prom. :) Most of the girls were wearing bright pink, blue or yellow ballgowns, but I bucked the trend and went with a long, slinky bronze gown. It had spaghetti straps that criss-crossed in the back.

This was the closest thing I could find to it. Just imagine it with a square neckline and in a darker colour.

    This is the actual colour:

I also went to three proms - my H's prom when he was a senior, my senior prom as a junior with a friend, and then my senior prom as a senior with H.

Here's one from my senior prom, 2008.

ETA: Please excuse H's super funny face.
  • This was my Jr Prom in 1999. I do not have any senior prom pics (2000) on this computer but the style did not change much! I loved this dress! A friend borrowed it the follwoing year for Sr. Ball and I never got it back :(

Which one were you? POOF. These remind me of the dress my next door neighbor wore to hers around 85 or 86. I was mesmorized.

Pele, awesome!! you look awesomely creepy.

  • This is similar to the dress I wore, except black sash not red, and it had halter straps. I loved it. I wanted to live in it. Work about a million shifts at mcdonalds to pay for it!!

MuppetFan...I would have probably been the one on the far right, my senior prom gown was that color but a bit "poofier". My date's tux looked just like her date's. My BFF wore a gown just like the girl in the middle, it was kind of the Princess Diana look.
