Do not get married April 5th, 2014 in Charleston!

It's the same day as the Copper River bridge run, and the Family Circle tennis finals. You will not be able to block hotel rooms or get any type of discount. In fact, hotel prices are outrageoous since this is a peak weekend for Charleston.

    :(  You are very correct.  That will be a VERY busy weekend.  
    Try to look for hotels outside of downtown Charleston.... West Ashley, North Charleston, John's Island are all just a short drive and might be at a price that's a little easier to swallow.   Or possibly even look into a large beach house rental to share and split the cost down among those staying.

    I was able to change my wedding date to April 19th with my venue and vendors (Easter/Passover weekend). Luckily I found this out early enough. I should have known better living in Charleston, but I just didn't think about the bridge run. At least I can run it this year if I want to.
