Anyone have a cruise suggestion?

My fiancée and I have been talking about our honeymoon a lot, trying to figure out a budget. Does anyone have any suggestions for which cruise lines are better than others? I know some of them are more family oriented, and that's not what we want for our honeymoon. I have been reading everyone else's vacation spot suggestions, but I haven't seen much about cruises. Thanks ladies!! (Notice I don't have a HM in my sigggy, we don't have a clue where we want to go!)

Re: Anyone have a cruise suggestion?

  • Ours is our dream honeymoon since we're not sure where we're going for our actual one either.  We'll be taking our actual HM a year after the wedding...

Carnival is family oriented.  I think I would stick to Celebrity, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Princess...Don't be afraid to contact a travel agent.

When we go on our Mediteranean cruise we'll most likely be using Celebrity..but depends on the deals.
  • I want to doa  cruise for our honeymoon one week and then a resort for another.  I've only ever cruised with Carnival, their great.  Friends of mine have gone on both Carnival and Royal Carribean and they liked them both alot too.  If your looking for less kids I'd go with possibly something like Princess Cruise lines, but I think they are more expensive too. There weren't that many kids when I went on the my cruise in May, but make sure you go when kidstend to be in school (check out other countries too) .

  • I recommend Royal Caribbean all the way! I've been on 3 cruises, 2 with RCI and 1 with Norweigan. FI and I went on a Southern Caribbean cruise this past December (RCI) and it was the best vacation ever. I would highly recommend it! And when we went, there were hardly any kids at all. I think all cruises, even the ones that don't typically attract a lot of children, have the most kids on them during Spring Break or Christmas time. So if you're planning to go right after your wedding in July, you should be fine. We would totally do a cruise for our HM if my parents weren't giving us their condo timeshare for our HM. But we just can't say no to that!

  • I think a cruise is what you make it.  I've been on 3 RC, 2 Carnival, 1 Princess, and 1 on another line that went out of business.  I honestly didn't notice a difference between them other than the size of the ships.  Since you're honeymooning, I might recommend the Oasis or Allure of the Seas on RC.. They're kind of my dream cruises.  But really, if you don't want family oriented, then just don't hang out at the family oriented events like the kids club parades or kids pool.  Or you can postpone the honeymoon to an off season when kids are in school.  I think the only one you would really have too much family oriented stuff on is Disney.  Otherwise, there are plenty of adult only shows and areas on the ships.  I love cruises...a lot.  Keep us updated on your planning!

  • I've been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Princess. Carnival is pretty family orientated and also has a lot of partiers.

My favorite is Royal Caribbean, then Princess.

  • We're going the cruise route, too, for the HM.  FI and his family have cruised several times over the years (his parents go at least once a year), so he's in charge of that part of the planning.  I think RC and Carnival are the ones they have cruised with.  We're planning on somewhere in the Carribean...but again, I have no clue. :-)

  • We were tossing around the ideas of a cruise in the Carribean, or going to Mazatlan. Just depends on what we can afford. That's why I was asking about what cruise line, so I could look into their prices. Thanks for all the tips ladies. I hope everyone gets the honeymoon of their dreams!

  • Just a suggestion--I went on an eastern carribbean cruise in late june a couple years ago and it rained at 2 of the ports...not the dryest season!  You don't get the same turquoise water at most of the mexican ports, but they're still fun cruises, and it should be drier!

  • Royal Caribbean all the way! My FI and I went on a southern caribbean cruise in November and it was AWESOME! But we won't be doing a cruise for our HM because we want something more intimate. So, we'll be doing something all inclusive. but if on a limited budget go for it!
