san diego wedding venue madness!

Okay... I feel like I'm becoming a crazy person looking for the right reception venue for us in San Diego county. At this point I've probably looked into 30+ places and still don't have a place...
I really thought it'd be less complicated than it actually is... but it's not and now I need help! so HELP! :)

Here are the few stipulations that we're looking for:
-North of La Jolla and West of the 15.
-Outdoor venue
-Allows outside catering- we want to do a food truck or get Las Olas to cater :) YUM!
-Reception can go till midnight
-Total wedding budget is 15-20K

please please please, if anyone has suggestions I'd LOVE any help I can get! Thanks!

  • Leo Carrillo Ranch?

I feel you on the venue search thing... that was one of the most stressful parts of the planning process for me!

love Leo Carrillo Ranch, but they only allow you to stay until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings, and until 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday :(

I'm leaning toward an "after-party" at one of our favorite bar & grills for those who want to join and just deal with a place that we can only stay till 10pm...

still on the hunt though! can't give up yet :)
  • La Jolla Women's Club
  • Oh I see! Hmmm. Well, our reception is at Marina Village, which allows outside catering, allows events to go until midnight, and will probably fit into your budget. However, it's not north of La Jolla, and the reception spaces are all indoors.

  • You can try renting out a house. Look on VRBO I found one in Del Mar that looked pretty nice from pics.

Here is two in La Jolla : http://www.vrbo.com/455749

  • Both of those houses look badass!

Levyland is pretty awesome. It's in a neighborhood though so I imagine there are noise restrictions after a certain time. But check it out! http://www.levyland.net

Okay, how about Paradise Gardens? http://paradisegardensca.wordpress.com That place is awesome. Their website says they can only go til 11 pm so I know that's not ideal but at least it's better than the 10 pm I keep finding everywhere else. Vessels Ranch looks like it would be a fit but their website says they aren't taking any 2013 or 2014 weddings at this time and they have some bad reviews on WW.. sooo.. not sure what's up there.

ok... we've decided have our ceremony in Solana Beach at our parish St James. Now, I know that doesn't really help much since anything around there will probably be $$$$ but I just thought I'd throw that little detail in there. Hoping to not have to drive over 20miles to get to the reception site... thanks again for all the responses!!!
