Tailgate food

We're doing a football theme for 6let's party.  What says tailgate/football food to you?

(Yes I know it's early)

Re: Tailgate food

Chicken wings/drumsticks (They're super easy to make and can be done ahead of time)
    Jalapeno popper dip
    Buffalo chicken dip
    Chips and guacamole/salsa/queso

Trust that I am treading lightly on colors.  I'll never hear the end of it if there is any black and gold (steelers) or maize and blue (Michigan).

I'm also laughing because the 3 things @mrsconn23 mentioned are the 3 things I loathe.  I'd eat lime fluff first.

Well, if I brought a grill to tailgate...I'd have burgers/hot dogs/brats/sausage, chips, potato salad/cole slaw.

If it was going to be cold, I'd recommend chili and all the fixings.

    I'll also add:

Nachos - you can do a nacho bar

    Mozz sticks

    Chili

    Spinach/artichoke dip

And if you are feeling extra frisky there are several different ways to make a stadium:

I know they're super not practical, but I think they're cool.

I would make a complete mess of that stadium before anyone touched it.

I feel like we've discussed frito pie, but I don't know what it is.

Those look good compared to what my stadium would be.  That second stadium looks vulgar.  I pinned individual taco dips, but I also like the nacho bar idea.  I was thinking of making up subs so DH didn't have to man the grill.

Mozz sticks for a crowd....I can just bake them right?

I want to hear more about these taco dips.

And yeah, I'd just bake the mozz sticks.

Now I want tacos...and mozz sticks with homemade marinara. I WANT ALL THE FOOD!

They might be more PITA then they are worth though.

    I want that now.  NOW!

One chip for all of that? Eff that noise. Side note: sometimes I really hate these miniaturizations of food.

I'd have another bowl of chips.  If you saw what SIL's kids and sFIL would do to a layered dip you'd understand why this would be nice.  Then other people might eat it.

I vote yes on all of that. Additionally, down here in FL, our supermarkets make cakes decorated like stadiums regardless of whether it's football season.

Additionally, we BBQ the heck out of everything for tailgating. If it can be sauced, basted, or put on a stick, it can be bar-be-qued.

The nacho bar is so easy.  Son loves them so I do them for his birthday parties.

I make the taco meat as normal the morning of the party.  For our parties (30ish people which includes several children), I make 7 pounds.  Once it's done I put it in a crockpot to keep it warm.

I also have a crockpot of nacho cheese and a small crockpot of refried beans.  Two different kinds of hard-shell tacos, warmed-up soft-shells, and lots of tortilla chips.  And then I have all the toppings spread out - shredded cheese in case someone would prefer that to the nacho, lettuce, different salsas, taco sauce, onions, tomatoes, sour cream, guac, etc.  Oh, and I also buy those lunch sized bags of fritos so people can do walking tacos if they want.

I always get lots of compliments on it, too (of course, it's our family/friends, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything).  But people have said that it's a nice change from the normal burgers and dogs at big gatherings.

The best part is that there is very little to do when people arrive.  You can cut the tomatoes, onions, lettuce (or buy bags of shredded), etc the night before and have it all ready.

I hate when one of us has to be at the grill at all times while the party is going on.

I make this chip dip for parties
    sour cream (16 oz)
    cream cheese (1 block)
    scallions (1/2 bunch, chopped)
    black olives (1 jar, chopped)
pickled jalapenos (start w/ 1 tsp, adjust to taste)
fresh jalapenos (start w/ 2 fresh seeded, adjust to taste)
green chilis (1 small can, or you could go all out and roast and chill your own)
    -------------------

Mix together, let sit 1 - 2 days in the fridge, covered, serve w/ tortilla chips and salsa, or use in 7 layer dip

    Also: ginger chicken kebabs

    Kabobs

    Cut into bite size pieces:

    1 1/2 large red onion

    1 medium zucchini

1 bell pepper (whatever color you like)

    1 package cored, fresh pineapple

    2 chicken breasts

Any other favorite veggies - squash or baby corn would have been a tasty addition

    Marinade:

    Mix together:

    3 Tbsp Tamari

3 Tbsp Ginger Liqueur (I used the Domaine De Canton)

    3 Tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp garlic powder (or a few cloves of fresh, pressed garlic)

    5 Tbsp sesame oil

    Mix well

Toss all bite size pieces in sauce, put into fridge, stirring occasionally, to marinate

Throw on the grill until cooked
