different color vests and dresses?

I'm having a purple and blue wedding. My bridesmaids will all be wearing purple. We were thinking of having the guys wear Malibu blue for vests and bow ties.... would this look weird since they're not wearing the purple too??

    Actually, this is the preferred route to go. "Matchy matchy" is soooo junior Prom. Remember when the guys would get a vest and tie to match your dress? Icky.

    My bridesmaids were in grey, and the groomsmen were in black vests/ties. The colored vests are not my DH or my taste (too many tacky prom memories)...but if your FI likes them, go for it.

    That's what I was thinking too, but at the same time, I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the guys wore a different color vest than the dresses, so it's making me think about it more.

    I also dislike colored vests and think matching them to the BM dresses looks dated, but that is just personal preference. My BMs are wearing coral, and the guys are going to be in black tuxes with silvery grey vests and ties.

    I am doing lavender dresses for my BMs and the guys will be in black tuxes with mercury ties and vests.

    This sounds lovely! I might have to check this combination out as well before we make a final decision.
