Cute seating chart idea for guests at the reception... Wedding Boardz

We recently attended a friends wedding and saw a wedding board that displayed all of the guests names and their table number on custom made pillows attached to a cloth board.  We have been considering doing it for our wedding as well.  They are at weddingboardz.com  What do you think?  What did some of you use to display your seating chart?  Thanks for the help!

Um, what would you do with all the pillows afterwards?  Do you think your guests will really want to take an embroidered pillow with their names and table numbers on it for a keepsake?  It sounds like a major waste of money.  And not to be too harsh, but they look super cheap and ugly.

And @itzMS the website is correct, weird enough.

Edit: Time out!  I just looked at the pricing.  WTF?!  $4.50/pillow!  And $60 bucks for the board?  Are you kidding me?  If you had 200 guests and they all came as a couple you would need 100 pillows, so you would be spending $510 on pillow escort cards? And it doesn't look like you can fit that many on a board so that means you would have to buy additional boards which will then just jack up the price more. Wow, just wow.

OP, either you are a vendor trying to promote your own product or you just have money that you don't know what to do with.

Got it. I had Googled, and it came up with a bunch of Domain error sites, etc. So I assumed virus potential, there.

OP, What in the flying fuck would your guests do with a four inch by three inch pillow?

  • Yea I agree with PPs that they look cheap and seem like a big waste of money.  Ditto on the idea that your are probably a vendor.
  • No not a vendor at all. We kept ours and thought that they were different from anything else we had seen. I was wondering if any of you had any ideas on a unique way to display our seating chart? I don't have extra money to throw around but everything we have looked at has came up pretty expensive. We considered luggage tags, or little dolphin ornaments and they all came out a lot more expensive and did not look as nice at all in my opinion. Just looking for ideas that is all. Thank you for anyone that can help.

The thing is...simplicity is often best. I understand the pressure with all of the wedding "reality" shows on TV to be unique and special...but it's really not necessary.

Guests will appreciate something straightforward and familiar.

If you must, why not just Google "Unique seating charts".

  • As a guest of many weddings I could not tell you about any of the seating charts nor do I really care. A "unique" seating chart will not make your wedding experience the best ever for a guest. Simple is best. A seating charts sole purpose is to direct the guests where to sit. I have never been to a wedding and heard people raving about the seating chart and that is because guests do not care about it.

  • Ok. Thank you for the help. That does make sense.
  • I agree with PPs. Your guests won't care what the seating chart looks like, and it seems like a crazy waste of money. If you really want to do something, why not draw? Like, do a stencil of a dolphin instead of getting the ornaments. Or a stencil of a pillow instead of the actual thing.

  • chalkboard seating chart.  I just made a chalkboard from an old mirror with chalkboard paint. definitley "in" right now.  I also just picked up an old single pane wood framed window, which i am considering using as a seating chart, with this i may also use chalkboard paint or just permanant markers to write table numbers and names. you could also use poster board, print out names and table numbers on pretty paper. what about cork board, tack up your table lists, again on some pretty paper.
