Non-traditional venue ... Like a Theater or Concert Venue. Ideas?!

Hey Everyone -

My fiancé and I recently got engaged and are looking for a non-conventional wedding venue - specifically, we are looking (and hoping) to find a theater to have our ceremony and reception. We love going to concerts and want to showcase this part of relationship at the wedding.

We're thinking of having an October 2014 wedding with about 200-250 people. Our budget is moderate.

We'd like a Long Island or NYC venue, but will consider the tri-state area.

We checked out the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead and think it is our top contender, but would love feedback on what else is around. Also, the venue doesn't have to literally be a theater/concert venue, it just needs to have that kind of 'feel.'

Thanks for the suggestions! I looked into the Millennium and it is gorgeous -unfortunately out of our budget.

I just contacted Brooklyn Bowl for information and can share once I hear back. Definitely a unique and cool choice!

The Edison Ballroom in Manhattan is a converted theater. Still has stage and everything.

The Edison Ballroom seems like another great choice. Do you know if they charge a site fee?

No, I didn't look there for my own wedding so I don't know about a site fee. I'm sure they'd tell you over the phone though.

Try Gallapagos Art Space in DUMBO Brooklyn. They are actually one of our top choices for our wedding. Adam will give you a tour of the venue and he is amazing. They host flying kabaret shows and other events throughout the year, and you would get married up on a stage.
