October 2013 Weddings

Recent WR accomplishments

I feel like I'm on a roll, so I just want to list it out (and brag at how much I've accomplished ;)   )

  • Ordered menu design on etsy from a sweet seller
  • Had menus printed up (CatPrint.com is amazing)
  • Told etsy seller the updated number of favors needed - they are birdseed heart patties with our name/date tags attached by aqua ribbon.
  • Scheduled next meeting with pastor - I think we will be finalizing the ceremony at this meeting. Then, I will order the programs
  • Ordered 4 flower crowns from etsy for the flower girls. (This required get measurements of all of their heads!)
  • Ordered candy for the candy buffet (CandyWarehouse.com - wasn't the cheapest of allll candy out there, but was definitely affordable and everything is now perfectly color coordinated and really interesting looking candy.)
  • Acquired all candy buffet jars - had some for my parents' house (including a glass jar in the shape of a large gummy bear - awesome!) and borrowed some from one of my bridesmaids (including a large martini glass - awesome again!)
  • Painted a chalkboard with "Love is Sweet" - "Take a Treat" and two pieces of wrapped candy. Will be put on display at the candy bar
  • Painted our table numbers - we are doing cut pieces of wood. FI cut all the wood for me and I cleaned them up and painted on the numbers
  • Ordered bouquet charms for pictures of family members who are no longer with us. Now, I just need to print out pictures, finish the charms, and give them to the florist.
  • Photographed old photographs of family members on their wedding days, and PhotoShopped them (color corrected, cropped, etc) and orderde 5x7 prints on Shutterfly. Just need to buy some frames now. Found one of my maternal great-grandmother (mother's mother's mother) from 1909. Yey!
  • Got sheet music for my best friend (maid of honor) who will also be singing during the ceremony

Feels good!

Re: Recent WR accomplishments

  • Lots of cool stuff! Brag on! It feels awesome to get stuff done and feel less crazy!

I need to do the programs, table numbers, and escort cards. Our favor is a bottle of our homemade mead, so we need to bottle that soon and then I need to design a label. On October 5th, I'm having a huge crafting party to finish the bouquets/bouts and centerpieces.

Oh, and we need to finalize music/song choices.

Anddd it would be really cool if everyone could RSVP. I think we only got half of them back so far. I think the mailman is hoarding them all and teasing me by dropping in just one every other day. Haha.

  • @SewInLoveWithDMB - way to go! I waited to buy candy around the major holidays when it went on clearance. We have pinks and purples so the Valentines candy worked out perfect and it doesn't expire until the beginning of this year.

@ladymike - same here with regards to the RSVPs. Our date was yesterday and we are still waiting on 98 people.

  • WR stuff is almost on hold for me because of my upcoming move. However... we've still gotten a few things done.

I ordered his cufflinks from etsy the other day.
Placed a custom order for a cartilage earring for me.
Picked out earrings for his siblings as thank you gifts.
He finally got the groomsmen sorted out with their attire, and FMIL & FH will be ordering fabric soon for his vest & tie. (And they purchased a pattern for his vest.)
100% paid off the honeymoon today!

Next Friday is going to be busy, we're:
    meeting with the officiant
    hair trial
    ring inspection/cleaning
    getting our marriage license
    meeting with the DJ

We've gotten RSVPs from 40% of our guests, and 35% of our guests are coming! Our deadline is the 25th.
  • We're all so productive. I love it!

  • Yay for getting stuff done!

I'm feeling a little better after crossing a few things off my own list this last weekend.
    • One of my BMs has her dress now, and another BM has ordered her (although we're still having complications with the store, so we'll see).
    • Bought FIs and GMs ties
    • Purchased my lingerie - woo!
    • Finished most of our flowers, including centerpiece flowers, and the only thing left is the corsages (but my mom will be taking care of making those)
    • Booked our wedding night hotel room
    • Finished cutting our guest book cards

    Things we have left:

    • Meeting with our officiant to plan the ceremony this Saturday
    • Get my third BM her dress
    • Finish purchasing ring bearer outfits (ring bearers are my son and little brother)
    • Pick up our marriage license
    • Purchase a gift for our officiant (He's my Papa, and we're getting him an Outback gift card and a Hawaiian shirt. He loves Hawaiian shirts and has worn them for as long as I can remember!)
    • Finalize our music lists
    • Finalize our picture requests
    • Make the kids bags

And then the seating chart once all the RSVPs are in - such a headache. And then the fun stuff like getting my hair cut and dyed!

  • @simplykayla, you probably want to get your hair done ASAP, just in case. I need to dye my hair again soon as well. I'm planning on doing it the second full weekend I'm in the new place, which is the 3rd weekend from now.

    Sigh. Moving sucks.
  • The majority of the things on my to do list are things that I need to wait until we get closer to October 26th.  But in the past few weeks, I've done the following:

    1) Purchased necklaces for my BMs - I wasn't planning on doing this and I told them they could wear whatever jewelry they wanted - but they preferred I choose something. It was an unexpected cost - but based on all of the etiquette rules - I figured I was required to purchase them.
    2) Finished buying the flower girl gift
    3) Wrote up the ceremony and sent to officiant. FI and I decided we are going to do traditional vows.
    4) Followed up with venue to confirm what was included in their "provided decorations" and also checked in on tee times for the groom and his buddies the day of.
    5) FI got the last shipment of cigars that will be at our cigar table.
    6) Finalized (for real this time) my decor
    7) Created weekend schedule

    To Do
    1) Apply for marriage license (we are headed up on Monday)
    2) Make favors - CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS - but I have to wait until closer too so they don't get stale.
    3) Buy pumpkins for centerpieces and carve table numbers in them
    4) Hair and makeup trial (also on Monday)
    5) Buy wedding bands
    6) Finish getting gifts
    7) Buy alcohol for rehearsal dinner
    8) Print escort cards
    9) Assemble emergency kit
    10) Final cut and highlights before the wedding (Scheduled for 10/12)

Yeah I'll be doing in it about a week or so, so about three weeks out from the wedding. My hair grows ridiculously fast, so I didn't want to do it too far out and then have my roots back in already by the time of the wedding! It'll basically be a re-dye of the color I already have, so it's not a drastic color change that I'd have to be worried about.

Moving really does suck! We just got a new apartment back in March, so I know how you feel!

I got some stuff knocked out yesterday.

    Limo is booked.
My gas light sponsorship for memorializing friends and family is done.
    I ordered my hair items.
    Confirmed tuxedo fittings for tomorrow.
Booked (but need to confirm) cupcake tasting for tomorrow.
My mom ordered my sixpence (his birth year; 1967).
My sister and I are going to get makeup today (and do one more makeup trial so she can get more tips/hints).
Tentatively booked my hair trial/coloring (same day).
Confirmed with my big sis that my bouquets/bouts/pomander ball will be done within a week (or at worst, 2, but knowing her, 1 week).
Form for chair rental is ready to go out.

    Which leaves me with:
    Booking a musician for ceremony.
Getting a cute pair of undies for under my gown.
    Getting the wedding license.
Waiting for the rest of the RSVPs so I can give final headcount to venue.
Get gifts for our sons for the ceremony.
Get gifts for MOH/BM (my mom said she's made clutch purses for them, so I just want to get them something a little extra).
Order gift for FI (going to get him a day cover for the motorcycle so I can stop burning my ass when we ride in the summer and can't put it in the shade).
MAYBE get gifts for RB/FG (FG is so little that my mom's working on sewing her something...and she'll probably do something for my RB too).

It just started to snap in to shape just within the last week or two.

    Whoa.
