Favorite/least favorite part of planning: I really like the organizing of details and bargain hunting for wedding related things. I like finding creative ways to stretch our budget. The least favorite would be when our wedding planner bailed on us about 7 months ago. We got our money back though and it has worked out handling things ourselves so far.

Random fun fact about yourself: My dogs name is Diamond. I wanted a Diamond for my bday last year but my fiance (boyfriend at the time)bought me a puppy instead. So I named her Diamond. Now I've got 2 Diamonds!

Favorite/least favorite part of planning:
Favorite: Starting to see how everything is going to fall into place and being able to see the big picture. I also can't wait to have all of my closest friends all together for just 1 day. I've enjoyed having different BMs help me during different steps and it was great to have a special experience with that bridesmaid (Dresses, Cake, etc)
Least Favorite: Spending the money! =P Actually, knowing that the whole day is only going to be around 6 hours really bums me. Also, I've tried and tried to get myself motivated to get in better shape and I failed at that. I really did want to feel my best on the big day but I keep telling myself it doesn't matter because at the end of the day we will be married and then I'm going to be spending a whole week in Jamaica with no worries!

I'm right there with you...I did NOT enjoy dress shopping. I had the hardest time feeling comfortable, I was sweating bullets in the fitting room trying to get some of these big heavy dresses on (which I quickly realized if I was sweating in the dress boutique that my outside wedding had potential to be miserable). I finally found the one and I was sooo over it that I didn't try any others back on or surf for new ones. Haha

Allie-I know what you mean! Matt is always saying things like "back in your day". I like to point out to him that he was bragging when we first started dating that he was dating a "30" year old...woooo

Emily-That is cool that your wedding and birthday will be back to back. My birthday is in October as well so hopefully FI will be able to remember both anniversary and B-Day.

Janice-We are big Panthers fans too! I am hopeful for this year with Matt Moore as QB..I was NOT a Jake fan. It will be a tough rebuilding year though.

Malea: That is so cool about your golfing career! I have been trying to pick up golf. What is your best advice for someone new to the game?

Practicing! =)

Head out to a driving range, many places have club rentals, call ahead to find out if they do if you do not have a set or access to a set.

A lesson never hurts, if you see an Adult Camp those are usually good boot camps for the new golfer. It will give you the basics for how to hold the club, swing and club selection.

Then just keep practicing...once you feel comfortable take it out to a course and go at it. It takes a while to become consistant but it really is a great game to play. Keep in mind you aren't on the PGA Tour so just go have fun with friends. I unfortunately have a difficult time having "fun" after I used to do it competitively...lol

Ceremony/Reception Location: ceremony is St. John's Episcopal; reception is Levine Museum of the New South (both in Charlotte!!)

Colors: Black and bright colors (pink, purple, orange, yellow, etc.); am still debating whether to pull bright pinks (magenta, fushia) or a bright purple as my main accent

Favorite/least favorite part of planning: least is def the cost & FMIL trying to invite 2304983 when we're only inviting 120 (we've told her she only gets 40 invites, which is more than plenty- over half of those are her friends! still waiting to see how it plays out when we do the final list.) best is seeing FI so excited about the big day & walking through my venue (which mom and I do just about every weekend!) and picturing how amazing the wknd is going to be!

Random fun fact about yourself:FI were high school sweethearts! And, we will be engaged almost 3 years before getting married May 2011- I guess taking things slow has always been our thing! (you can read about why in my bio, I think it's all in there!)

Favorite/least favorite part of planning: I'm a researcher, so my favorite part is all the trolling around for info and looking at everything that is out there. Which leads to the tough part, making a decision within my budget! Especially since I am not crazy about the chairs at the State Club, but I can't justify paying to rent chairs when the ones they have are perfectly good--just not a great color, which is what piqued my interest in the taupe/silver/black color scheme.

Favorite/least favorite part of planning: Favorite---seeing the success of all of the planning coming together thus far...I cannot to wait to see how it all looks on the big day! Least---knowing that it is only going to last a couple of hours on one day and then it will all be over. The cost of all of this. Fighting with my mom about the cost and the little things that mean so much to me, but seem so insignificant to her. She really hurts my feelings alot and makes me regret doing something beyond my original budget. It doesn't help that when FI lost his job a couple of weeks ago, my mom had to take on the rest of wedding costs until we can pay her back for it all.

Random fun fact about yourself: I'm never any good at thinking of stuff like this either. FI and I have been trying to get married for years, but everytime we start "really" planning, something major happens to get in the way. The first thing that happened was school took a year longer than I had originally planned. Then, on our second attempt at planning, FI's dad committed suicide which was a major unexpected tragedy that sent FI into major depression. He lost his job for a couple of years and then had a really hard time keeping a job once he got back to working because he kept having panic attacks at work. And then, as of about 2 years now, he has finally been able to accept everything, so we try to do this again, and what do you know? He loses his job about 3 weeks ago after an accident at work. But, luckily we do have my mom that has agreed to pay for things that we can't until we can repay her. If it wasn't for that, we would've had to cancel again. I am just so ready to be married after almost 11 years of dating!

Colors: Still in the works because I'm horribly indecisive, but I'm leaning towards sage and tangerine

Favorite/least favorite part of planning: Ohh I love planning! I wish I had more to plan, to be honest. My favorite so far has to be trying on my first dress though. I waited my whole life to put on a wedding gown and it was just such a great and overwhelming emotional thing for me to put the first one on. The search probably wasn't my favorite part, but that moment of slipping into the first one was pretty awesome. My least favorite part is definitely spending all that money. We've been blessed in that our families are taking care of most of the costs, but I still hate asking for so much for one day!

Random fun fact about yourself: I'm starting my second year of law school and Zach is 12 hours away in Memphis finishing optometry school. We've been apart for 2 years so far, 3 before we're married (we'll have dated for 5) but I've gotten to spend half my summer out here with him! I look mot forward to my wedding because it means the end of this separation!
