Ceremony at Verona Park

Has anyone ever done this? I found tons of threads about taking pictures there, but we are thinking of doing the actual ceremony there. Richfield Regency is in our top 4 for venue but I don't like the indoor ceremony space. However, I also don't want to make people travel to 2 locations. Since the park is right across the street, I thought it would be an ideal situation.

I have to call the town to clarify the permits/ insurance as I am getting confused from their website, but I was hoping someone had firsthand experience with the location!

Re: Ceremony at Verona Park

  • I've never been to a ceremony there but I've been in a bridal party that did pictures there.  As a member of the bridal party it was more trouble then it was worth.  The hill was a bitch to walk down in a long dress and heels (same goes with hiking back up the hill).  Not to mention the goose shit all over.  I had to make sure my dress didn't touch any and try not to step in it.  Getting the bride around all of it without getting dirty was also a project.

  • Ugh that is not good news... thanks for the input!
  • I do agree - I had to take pictures there as a member of a bridal party, and I just remember it being super hot and complicated. Your idea of having the reception at the venue across the street however would make it a lot easier. We just had to travel from the church (in Montclair) to the park, then to the reception (Florham Park.) It then gave a really long gap between the service and the reception...but you wouldn't have any of that. I'm just rambling.

There are some locations in the park that would be really pretty for the actually ceremony. You would just need to do a lot of planning with chairs and setup and what not. But, the idea overall could be really nice.

But yeh, there is a lot of goose poop there.
