Has anyone read a Miss Manners book?

Good morning to you all!

I want to buy a Miss Manners wedding book on Amazon, but I can't choose which one. I'm deciding between Miss Manners' Guide to a Surprisingly Dignified Wedding and Miss Manners on Weddings. Have any of you ladies and gents read either of these books?

Re: Has anyone read a Miss Manners book?

  • I've read them.  Enjoy!
  • @Jen4948, would you recommend both books or was there one in particular that was more useful?
  • Both are good.
  • I read the Dignified Wedding.  It was a quick read but honestly I didn't learn anything that wasn't already stated here on the boards (no cash bars, host your guests properly, don't be a diva, etc.).

  • I enjoyed the Miss Manners' Guide to a Surprisingly Dignified Wedding
  • Thanks ladies. I think I'll just get both since they're only $5 each.
  • I actually own ALL of Miss Manners' books. I'd recommend any of them. The ones that aren't wedding specific contain other etiquette advice for other social situations PLUSALSO all the wedding advice that's in the weddings-only ones.

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'
  • @HisGirlFriday13 thanks for that tip! Seeing this post has made me desperate to go and buy one, and now that I know the ones that aren't wedding specific contain all the wedding advice that's in the wedding only ones I'll be buying one of those instead.
  • Don't forget Emily Post!

You're welcome! I love them all, but probably my favourite is the updated 'Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior.'

Full disclosure: I own both the original AND the updated versions of most of these books. I have an entire shelf of etiquette books. I love etiquette books in general. I am less fond of Emily Post than I am of Miss Manners, but that's just a personal preference.

I went to Barnes and Noble to see of they had any Miss Manners books. They don't! I did find some awful things in the wedding section there though (like TK's book misguided, industry-driven advice). I just ordered both of Miss Manners' wedding books and the Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior. Can't wait 'til they arrive!!
