Just a word of warning for people going to DR on honeymoon; you may want to ensure you stay on the resort or in large tourist groups if you venture off on excursions. A co-worker of mine is from there and his cousin, who still lives there, was kidnapped last night and is being held for $20k. He says a lot of times the police are in on these things, either up front, or, if they actually catch the person, payments are made and charges are dropped. In any case, sounds like the same precautions you take in Mexico are needed in DR too unfortunately.
