Bridal shower attendance

I am a graduate student.  My MOH wants to throw me a bridal shower at school and wants to invite all our peers.  My question is, does this mean that I have to invite everyone that attends to my ceremony and reception?  I was not planning on having a blanket invite for everyone at school, just a few close friends.  What is the right thing to do here?

    The rule is do NOT invite anyone to your shower that you are not inviting to the wedding. It would be a slap in the face to them. It'd be like saying you're good enough to come to this party for me and give me gifts but not good enough to come to my wedding.

    hlvonb is correct, put the breaks on that guest list quickly or it will be a huge issue.
