Waiting for the wedding

We've been engaged for over a year and a half but the time has just flown by! We only have 3 months left, it seems so close and so far at the same time. We pretty much have all the major stuff done and are just working on details now. Any advise on things I might be forgetting? How did you ladies deal with the waiting? I'm so excited I just want it to be here already!

Re: Waiting for the wedding

  • I totally hear ya!  But try not to wish away this time.  It will fly by, whether you think it will or not, and before you know it, it will all be over.  Being married is so wonderful, but I also really loved our time being engaged.  Also, try not to panic as it gets closer.  I was 100% laid back and calm the entire time...then the day before I pretty much lost it hahaha.  Just remember, even if something goes wrong, it won't matter.  You're getting married!
  • Breeeeeathe. I am in the same place as you, going through all of the little details now! The calmer and more relaxed you are, the less likely you are to forget something. Chances are good that you have it all under control and won't miss a thing, so don't worry about it :)

I'm super excited, too, and can't wait for our wedding, but I'm also enjoying this time because I can't believe how quickly the first 6 months of our engagement flew by! One thing that made me slow down and take it all in is keeping a journal. I started doing it at Day 100 as a gift to FI, writing down at least one thing I love about him in relation to things that happened that day, and it has turned out to be a great reflection and collection of the time we're spending together and how we're connecting before getting married.

  • I was right there with you...and I only had a 10 month engagement!  But really, just enjoy it! It will fly by I promise.  As you get closer there will be tons to do so you will be surprised how quickly the last 3 months go.  Between showers and dress fittings and final meetings, you will soon wish you had a weekend off!  Just take time for yourself between all the craziness.  I found it best to figure out what needed to be done so I could schedule it out, that way I got a little done here and there while still having some "days off" so I did not get overwhelmed.  It made the last week easy and fun! I could just be excited rather than worrying about what else needed to be done.  Of course there were things I could not do until the last few weeks, but it definitely helped thinking ahead and spreading out each task.

Our engagement will be just under 10 months, so it's definitely going quickly! And FI was just saying on the way to work this morning that we don't have a free weekend until the end of March. I laughed and said, "welcome to the rest of your life!"
