DJ prices

What did you pay for a DJ? I'm considering a DJ that will cost $1400 for ceremony, cocktail hour and a 5 hour reception. Just basic lighting included, no uplighting, This is more than I thought I'd have to spend but actually seems about average for a quality DJ. Does this seem reasonable?

Re: DJ prices

  • I believe I paid about $800 for similar timing. (I used Rick from Bell Aire Music.)  $1400 is probably average, as there are DJs out there for more.
  • I got a few quotes that were all $1,000-$1,500. I ended up making a deal with one of them for $850 since we have mutual friends.

  • $900 for 6 hours including ceremony, cocktails and reception.

  • We also got Rick from Bell-Aire Music Productions for $895.00 for our reception, we didn't need up-lighting but he does include some dance lighting at no charge.
  • @MarcieandNeil 2014, how many hours did you book with him?

  • Our DJ was just under 1,000 for 5.5 hours, I don't think it includes any lighting but we weren't really looking for that based on our venue.  A few other people I talked to spent $1400 and up so I do think it sounds reasonable.
  • 5 hours, we booked him over a year ago so not sure what he charges now
  • $1400 seems reasonable for 5-6 hours. Check out DJ Mike Berman. www.timelesseventsdj.com.

I have been to several weddings that he's DJed at. Unfortunately, he wasn't available for my date.
  • I think it seems reasonable.  We paid $900 for a 4 hour reception only.
  • Thanks everyone, I ended up going with this DJ

  • I am getting martyred in May and we are using Rick from Bell-Aire... Soo excited!
  • So are we, we booked Rick Bellanti last year, he is so busy, but makes you seem like your his only wedding. One of the nicest vendors we've hooked up with so far, answers all our email questions almost instantly. We found him last year thanks to these boards, we reccomend him all the time. (he always sends me thank you's telling me he got a call from one of my Facebook friends :)
Here's his website tell him Kimberly sent you LOL  bellairemusic.com
  • The average mid range DJ seems to be 1200-1800. But it seems that a good deal can be found for less than $1000. I'm going to check out some of these suggestions too!
