Seating

So I've been thinking about seating arrangements.  What is everyone doing?  Seating chart?  Place cards?  Escort cards??

Re: Seating

  • I'm going to do escort cards, probably one per couple or family, as long as I have them seated together. Our place cards are going to be significant locations at MSU, rather than numbers, since we went to college there. I saw an idea on here under the escort cards photo section that I think I'm going to do. Our reception is going to be outside under a tent, and I was worried about the cards blowing away. The idea is to get a cork board, cover it in fabric, and then pin the cards to the board. I also wanted to have something on the board about why we numbered the tables the way we did. And then on each table setting, we're going to have a little description of the significance behind the table name! I'm excited, especially to put the seating chart together. It'll be like a puzzle!

  • We will be having escort cards most likely.

  • We are going to do escort cards.  At my venue, there is a huge table in the entrance where couples usually put a centerpiece of flowers and surround it by the escort cards so when people walk in they can find their names.  It looks beautiful from the pictures I have seen, so I am excited about it!

  • What's the difference between escort cards and place cards?

    I have a seating chart made.  I kind of want to have a picture of us blown up, cut it up into rectangles, and have each section be for a particular person or family. I don't know if that really makes sense.  If Bobby ever shuts up (he's babbling and won't stfu), I'll google it and post a picture.  I can't really concentrate right now.  SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!

    escort cards have the person's name and/or the family name with the table number...

    place cards are used in conjunction with seating charts sometimes.  Place cards pretty much tell people they have to sit at this specific seat.

    I don't believe it is necessary to have escort cards and a seating chart.

    I'm planning on doing table assignments, so no place cards necessary. I'll probably just have escort cards to their table.

  • We're having an outdoor country wedding.  We're painting guests names in various colors on mason jars as their drinking glass/favor for the night.  We'll have them on a banquet table near the reception enterance and place them in clusters around mini versions of the table numbers. We're not assigning seats, but are assigning tables.  The color paint their name is in will be the same as their tablemates and also the same as the flowers as their table's centerpiece.  HTH
