FFF

I flame that the Olympics are almost over!

Nothing else to flame cause today is FI's bday!!!

Re: FFF

  • I flame either my browser or TK.

The last couple of days, I've been on one board (say, DFW).  Then I try to go to another board (say, Catholic Weddings), and the title on the browser says "Catholic Weddings," but the board is still all DFW.

Very weird.  I can't decide if it's a TK glitch or a Chrome glitch.

  • Amanda- its def TK. its ALWAYS TK lol

Person: "Where are you guys going on a honeymoon?" Me: "Aruba"  Person " Ohh. Don't get kidnapped" <--- why would you say this to someone?
  • I flame the guy who rear-ended me on the Bush this morning while we were at a dead stop due to an accident.  Really?  Where do you have to go in your low-rider pick up that is so important?  Luckily, no damage.  I told him to "Chill out" and "relax," then I felt like a hippie lol.

No spoilers please! I won't be able to watch it until Sunday! <div>
</div><div>Next, so glad there wasn't any damage and you're okay!

I flame the Texas soil and this heat. I know it is always bad but our foundation is taking a BEATING.  Besides my monster of a crack on my dining room wall, I now have one in the guest bath, sunroom (like a good 2 cm) and my dining room window now has a 2 inch gap between the brick and the pane. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-yell.gif" border="0" alt="Yell" title="Yell" /> We may have to pony up and shell out for foundation repair. Holy expensive (bye bye bathroom reno).</div>
  • I Flame a potential BM. She's always been one of my closer friends, and she's been on my imaginary BM shortlist pretty much since we were 16, but I can hardly get her to return a text or a phone call. I'm not taking it too personal, I know she's just gotten wrapped up in a new guy (who I was like, 98% sure was gay when I first met him), and I've talked with her very closest friend who says even she feels neglected right now.

It's just frustrating because how can I ask you to be a BM if you don't return any of my texts?

Aeliza-Foundation work is the worst, that sucks =(

Amanda, I'm so nervous about our foundation right now.  I went to buy soaker hoses the other day, and they were out at Lowe's.  Our front door won't stay shut unless it's locked, so I called the builder the other day to get our warranty info.

ETA: Also, I tried to be as vague as I could Re: Project Runway!

We've done soaker hoses, watering... everything! I think our house is just on a giant sinkhole and one day we are going to come home to a 15 foot deep hole where our house used to stand.
DEFINITELY get that info from the builder! A new build shouldn't be that bad already. Granted, we have seen our house go back to normal during the winter, but cracks don't disappear and what good is it if our doors don't shut half the year.
Someone told me about hard plastic soaker hoses that you plant into the ground next to your foundation (that last multiple years) but I haven't been able to find anything other than the rinky-dink tire-like ones.
  • RE: Project Runway, I appreciate that! :-) I saw Tim G's status update this morning and really can't wait to watch it!

Also, went back to read the International board, and let's just say I am glad you ladies are actual ladies. I have a spine, but geez, I also have common sense and class too. If a board means that much to you, maybe ye should rethink ye priorities. I can't believe those ladies are grown women. Just doesn't compute.

<div>I know.  I hated how they were being so critical of Knot Lili.  None of what happened yesterday was her fault.  Even deleting the AYG thread.  It's the mods' job to police the threads and make sure TOS is followed, and most of the Int'l mods don't do that.</div><div>
</div><div>And yeah, I think part of our problem is just that it's been SO dry lately.  Hopefully as it starts to cool off (it was actually a little chilly this morning) the foundation will just settle back down.  There's definitely no reason for a house this new to be having issues.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm really worried about some of the foundations that have been laid recently.  When it's this hot, the concrete doesn't set correctly, and it can lead to problems.  There was a story on the news the other day about a road in a town north of OKC that had buckled in the heat, and the crews had to wait until well after dark to redo the concrete.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm also super worried about these poor construction workers.  A couple times they've come to the house and asked to use the faucet to fill their water jugs.  I'm like, "Hell yes!  And would you like some filtered water from my fridge instead?!"</div>

Whaaaa? I am pretty sure it should be a requirement that the contractor provides gatorade containers of water for them. That's just terrible.

<div>I'm betting they do, they just drain them in the heat!  It's easier to walk across the street to my house than to drive down to the gas station, I think.</div>

I called and texted a former-potential-BM and ... nothing. No response for months. And she'd also been on my BM short list for years. So I just decided to cut my losses. If she wasn't going to reply to any of MY messages, no way would she reply to any other BM or MOH messages. My wedding is in a few weeks and I have no regrets about that decision :)  Just because someone is a great friend, doesn't mean they'll be a great bridesmaid.

Ughhh how ridiculous. Like he couldn't tell it was backed up!!

I flame the June 2013 board and that stupid FB page. These girls are so childish. A post on FB  " I have to vent. A friend of mine just announced her engagement, I'm going to so pissed if she sets her wedding date before mine. Is that mean of me?"
Really! yes it is and  grow up! Who cares if she sets her date before. Is it soooo hard to be happy for someone rather than childish jealousy.

  • I don't really have anything to flame today.  I am friends on FB with a girl I knew in college.  She has posted a lot of check-ins with a friend of hers doing all sorts of "bucket list" kind of stuff -- skydiving, ziplining, traveling, etc.  The two of them seem like they both live life to the fullest and are just awesome people to be around.

My friend posted that this girl had a pulmonary embolism and they are removing her from life support tonight.  She's in her upper 20s/early 30s and my heart is just breaking for her friends and family.  She seems like such a neat person and to have this happen to her so early in life makes me sad.  Reminder to myself to life every day like there is no tomorrow, because, perhaps for some of us, there is not.
