What's for dinner?

My sister started a food blog a while back and I find myself being the supportive sister who keeps reading her posts. Long story short, I just ended up eating a family-sized order of her kale salad (http://cookingonions.com/?p=475). Now I'm scavenging the house for treats/snacks. I think I've settled on making popcorn and chocolate milk (fallen in love with Silk Almond Milk in Dark Chocolate).

Is it terrible that I love nights like this? DH is in class all night and SS already ate. I should note that I'm not a horrible monster: I made pork chops to go with the salad when I thought SS would be eating dinner- and now have something DH will love for dinner when he gets home.

  • We're having chicken tacos. I'm battling a cold, so we had to eat something DH could make without much guidance.

  • I made this Cajun Chicken Pasta  last night and had leftovers of it tonight. Also made FI and I a super fucked up peanut butter meringue pie. Crust turned out too small for the pan, then I burned the custard, then I didn't let it cool enough, before I poured it into the crust, then I got some yolk in my egg whites so the meringue wouldn't form peaks and I had to ad lib with cream of tartar, then I sorta burned the topping, but whatever. It was still delicious. Fucked up pie is better than no pie.
  • FI is at the world series game (GO ROYALS!) so I made scrambled eggs with spinach in them haha. He never lets me eat lame meals like this when he is home. He needs his meat to making something dinner lol.

  • I just made a grilled roast beef sandwich on rye with horseradish hummus.

  • H picked up wonton soup for me. I had allergy testing this morning and have felt like crap all day because of it.
  • Leftover chicken curry with rice and also leftover cheesy potato soup. Yes, it is a weird combination of leftovers, but honey badger don't care!

Jells, I hope you feel better soon!

  • DH left work early because he's sick. Which is rare for him, so he's all complaints. Anyway, I made him chicken noodle soup. He said it was alright, but he can't really taste anything. Sigh... I hope this ends soon.

We had grilled venison loin with some microwaved frozen vegetables. Marinated the venison overnight in: 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup rice vinegar, 2 cloves of garlic, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tablespoon dry mustard, 1/4 cup lemon juice. Really tasty.

  • YOU GUYS. I just made the best dinner ever. I'm so proud of myself. I made a recipe of Sunny Anderson's from the Food Network. Which I feel extra connected to because I met her last month at Ravinia. Anyway, it was a stuffed acorn squash filled with itlIan sausage, onions, celery, peppers, raisins, and walnuts then topped with cheese.

It's like the best think I've ever made. I also made an apple crumble for dessert. Add two glasses of wine and a handsome DH and this girl is doing pretty damn awesome.

  • I made bagel bites.... :(  Not exactly satisfying.

We also made our favors and were munching on the leftover candies.  Sooooo healthy, lol.

  • OMELETS. I made bacon and cheddar omelets. And I can't finish mine because I've hit my egg quotient. Oh well. It was good while it lasted!

  • DH is working tonight, so I went and got McD's with my kid sister. Every once in a while, I just have to scratch that Big Mac itch!

  • FI made turkey meatballs and pasta. He rules at cooking.

I totally hit egg quotas! haha. I love omelets and I love everything egg, but sometimes I just hit a point to where if I eat more egg I will vom.

  • Salad with all the toppings to start. Then spaghetti with sauce doctored up with diced tomatoes, onion, green pepper and crumbled hot turkey Italian sausage, garlic bread, and leftover homemade meatballs from when we had meatball sandwiches earlier this week. Lots of food, but it was all so good.

YUMMMM, all of the additions to your spaghetti sauce sound AMAZING. I cannot have italian anything if it isn't italian sausage. Meat sauce? No. Give me italian sausage!! My sister's new BF doesn't like italian sausage because he doesn't like fennel. I said he cannot be welcomed into the family.

  • I was going to make spaghetti but DH took the can opener to work so I ended up making Kraft Dinner with ground beef and tomato mixed in.

You sound like me.  I just can't make myself pour canned spaghetti sauce onto noodles.  It offends my Italian side.  By the time I get done doctoring it, it might as well have been made from scratch anyways.
You guys are making me want pizza.

  • FI and I went out for dinner tonight, to this place that's kind of like the Italian version of Chipotle. We got delicious piadas, which are basically italian burritos. It was delicious.

  • I went to happy hour after work and had a beer and mozzarella sticks. Now I'm thinking about making mac & cheese (the blue box stuff cause I'm lazy and need more cheese) and having a glass of wine because I made an impromptu decision to take tomorrow off work. Good thing I don't have to fit into a wedding dress Saturday...oh crap...I do.
  • Oh no @luckya23! Hope you get to feeling better and have a fabulous birthday!
