Birth Certificate

Will I need my actual birth certificate for any of the name changing process?  I only have a copy of it right now, the actual one got lost.  I hope not, we're less than 5 weeks out.  I won't need a passport anytime soon either.
TIA!

I never used mine.  The only time I brought it with was for my SS card since I wasn't sure what I would need.  But he only asked for my marriage license and SS card.

ETA: I don't have a passport either, not sure what is needed for that one.

I did my name change on the marriage license application....not sure if the procedure is different if you do the name change at a time other than at the license application.   We both just showed our drivers license....never any mention of a birth certificate.

I changed my SS Card today...they only asked for the Marriage Certificate and my old SS Card so they could shred it.  Haven't changed the other items yet.

You should only need your birth certificate if you've never applied for a passport before.
