Bridesmaid Gift Ideas

I want to give my bridesmaids something when I ask them to be in the wedding.  I got each of them a tervis tumbler that says bridesmaid on the front and I got their monogram on the back in white so it is subtle and matches and does not take over the cup but so that if they use them at the wedding they do not get mixed up.

I feel like giving them an empty cup is just boring so I want to put something in them but I am not sure what to do and need ideas.  I thought about cute hot chocolate mixes but the cups need more in them but I do not know what.

Does anyone have ideas of things to put in the cups that is fairly cheap but doesnt seem cheap?  I want to keep the "fillings" under $10 for each cup seeing as I have 6 to fill.

Actually asking your bridesmaids to be in your wedding party doesn't call for a gift, and it could make them feel pressured to say yes even if they can't for whatever reason, so I would not give them gifts when you ask them.

Later on, once you've asked them and they've accepted, choose gifts for them individually, based on their personal tastes and interests, even if they aren't "cute" or personalized with your wedding information.

    Yep.

  • I did a "thank you for agreeing to be in the wedding" gift AFTER all of the girls said yes. Mine was wine themed because they all love their wine but you could use some of the same parts or change them up based on what they like? I did two of the wine tumblers, two glass toppers that you put over your drink when you are outside so bugs don't get in them, and wine glass markers for each girl.

  • You could add this to a personal gift, to say think you, at the wedding, or as PP said a thank you for saying yes..

and for the second part of OP question, I personally wouldn't want hot chocolate, or coffee, I have seen the little rum bottles and coke, I would happier with that..

  • Why would they be using these cups at your wedding? That seems weird.

  • Put mini-booze bottles in them.

And there's no way in hell I'd use a cup that says "bridesmaid" after your wedding.  Just do their monogram.

  • Nix anything that says bridesmaid if you want them to actually get use out of it.

I'm with Jen on a personalized gift making them feel pressured. And I. With climbing on not understanding why they would use these at the wedding. Won't you have cups? Wait staff? A bar?

  • Well around here, everyone gives a personalized gift when you ask your bridesmaids.  It's like proposing without a ring but a gift.   Southern hospitality I guess.

And they would not be using them AT the wedding like the reception, but when we are all together getting ready.

All of my bridesmaids already kind of know they will be in my wedding but I have not officially asked.  I'm lucky enough to have a group of friends who have all talked about our weddings for years saying we will all be each others bridesmaids.

So on here I was simply asking for suggestions for things to fill the cups, not for everyone's opinions on if I SHOULD or should not even give them cups.

Also, if someone gives you a tervis tumbler, use it no matter what it says.

Thank you fellow brides for your suggestions.

Welcome to the Internet where you can't control how people reply.

Besides, if someone gave me a Nicki Minaj anything, I'd never use it.

So if someone gave you a tervis tumbler saying how much they think you're a bitch would you use it? I'm not using a cup that says bridesmaid except for on your wedding day during your all important getting ready pictures. I don't see why you can't just monogram them, that I'd use for years and actually like.

As for filling it, I like the mini booze bottles. Also if you want to fill up extra space, chocolate! Who wouldn't want booze and chocolate?

No, because I personally hate tervis tumblers. I mean…cups? Plastic cups? With the word 'Bridesmaid' on them to be used while you're getting ready for the wedding? Newsflash: Anything you give your bridesmaids that has to do with/be used in any part of your wedding is not a gift--it's a prop for your vision. They may smile and say it's great, but they're most likely trying to spare your feelings.

If these girls mean so much to you and you are really determined to give them a gift, be a little more original, and don't get them something that revolves around your wedding. Because I think you will find, in time, that their lives will not revolve around you and your wedding.

Ugh, stop with the whole southern thing, already.  I cringe every time this comes up.  Some people do, some don't, you don't speak for the entire goddanged region.

Also, having a special cup to keep track of while getting ready sounds like kind of a PITA.  Do they have to take it with them to the ceremony, are are they supposed to go back for it at some point, like after the reception?  IDK, does not sound convenient.

Super confused about "Also, if someone gives you a tervis tumbler, use it no matter what it says."  Whaaaaat?  Receipt of a gift--any gift, even one that says Tervis on it--does not obligate the recipient to use it.  I mean, if you like them great, you do you.  I prefer Hydro Flasks.  To each her own, but it's not the sort of thing you can force on someone.

Maybe go with mini bottles in the tumblers, sounds like they might come in handy during the next several months.
I freaking love you! I was just thinking she should fill them with vodka because those girls are going to need it.
  • I've converted from Tervis to Yeti.

  • Every single person that lives in NY would hate using a tervis tumbler that says "bridesmaid" on it.
  • Had to look it up. Read the whole site. Why are these a thing? I don't get it. Is a $13 item really that special?

I would comment on this thread but being born and raised in the Pacific Northwest I have no manners, ethics, values or ettiquette.

  • I would love a cup full of Reese's pieces.
  • I would love a cup full of Reese's pieces.

Or a cup full of good Whiskey, that's a gift

  • I've lived in the south for 16 years and have never seen or heard of anyone give bridesmaids a gift when they ask them. The only time I have seen this is from random posters here on TK. So please don't say it's what is done in the south as if everyone here does it.
