Re: How many bridesmaids did you have?

  • I didn't vote because there wasn't an option - I had zero bridesmaids.
  • I had 10, FI had 9 GMs.

  • How weird. I see the vote button!

  • I have 9, FI has 8. We also have two flower girls and one ring bearer. hello big wedding party! Wouldn't have it any other way though.

I see the poll as well but you didn't give an option for zero.
  • I had a MOH and H had a BM. That was it for us.

  • I have 4 'maids but 6 total including the dudes.
  • We just had a maid of honor and best man. It was nice.

I have 4 bridesmaids, 2 bridesmen, and 1 MOH. My Fi only has a best man. We're having a smallish wedding so it might look weird with so many up there with us, but oh well.
  • 2 for me, 1 for him.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We both had 4.

  • Having a blended party, so to speak. 4 girls, 6 guys, but two of those are my brothers. I'd be fine with them being on my side or his, but FH doesn't want male/female lines next to us at the ceremony, so idk what the hell we'll do. Guy/girl or maybe just have them seated. He has no best man; I have a MOH although I regret making the designation.

Wedding parties. How do they work?!

  • 2 on each side. I didn't want any bridesmaids but my sister and FSIL kindof told me they were bridesmaids. FH had a list of like 5 people but won't go over my number, even though I tell him he can and should.
  • You need a zero option. I had no wedding party.
  • 9

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • My wedding is coming up in August 2016 and We have 5 Brides people and 5 Grooms people.

I initially only wanted 3, but my fiance couldn't chose between his friends. So we ended up with 5. It does add some costs, especially if you add more ladies, because it's generally nice to pay for their hair/makeup or jewelry (At least that is the Canadian Tradition).

In the end i'm glad that I have each and everyone of them, as there is a lot of work to do for weddings and it's awesome to see them working together to help us out with crafts, and shopping and logistics. Each one on my side was also very excited about being in the wedding party, and viewed it as a big honour. 4/5 are already married and understand the pressures of wedding planning - so they have been very supportive and creative with ideas and help.
  • As I always say, less is more.  It think it becomes too busy with such a large bridal party.  One MOH, one Matron and one Bridesmaid.  Those are the most important women in my life!

You need to change your screen name to something other than your real name.

How do you know it's her real name? :-)
  • 1 MOH, 1 BM for DH.  I probably would have had 3 if we stayed home to get married, but I didn't want anyone to feel pressured to come to a DW cos they were a BM.  DH wasn't sure if he was going to have 1 at all, so that would have been the same at home or away

  • I have 11 lol. Still a year out so we'll see how it all ends up. I started with my 2 sisters and FSIL, then added my group of 5 girls... seems like a lot but we've all been besties for over 15 years. Then, I got depressed thinking about my best gf's from college flying out to my hometown and not being able to see them during the rehearsal dinner, getting ready, photos, etc. I was already at 8 so I was like f*ck it 11 it is. I'm letting them choose whatever dress they want in dark green, and besides that don't really care what they wear or do. They live across 6 states and I'm on a different continent so wrangling them all together for any pre wedding party or something was never gonna happen anyway. My BM gift budget is a little higher but I honestly can't imagine having drama with any of them, cause I'm not asking for anything. So, I don't think having a big party is that big of a deal.
  • Oh and my fiance has 7. It'll probably look weird

    No it won't.

The only way this will look weird, is if you have all 18 walk alone and not in pairs. simply because as a guest I would be annoyed that they were not paired, and I had to watch 20+ people walk slowly..
