Re: Vent thread

  • I just had some asshole potential customer yell at me for several minutes because he asked for the salesman and when I transferred him, it went to voicemail. He actually said if I worked for him, he'd fire me for that. I ended up hanging up on him. People piss me off so bad sometimes.
    What a jerk!!!!!!
  • Tonight's vent: It's mid-October! I don't care that it's been in the high 70s-low 80s the past few days, the mosquitoes should all be gone by now. Useless bugs!
So much this! Seriosuly Ohio, get it together.
  • People telling me to smile when they know I'm sad bc I had a miscarriage and my baby died.
This makes me both sad AND angry for you. If there was ever a reason for an "Eff you" and a kick to the shin, this is it...

I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • I don't know if this is really a vent, but I just found out our HR director is leaving 2 weeks before my due date. From what I gather we still don't have our maternity leave policy flushed out and I think the company is actually more generous than the policies. For selfish reasons I really hope this new person doesn't come in and try to straighten anything out and end up screwing me out of some paid time
  • How do women handle things with cramps on the regular and what the ever loving fuck is happening with me!?

I'm 29. I don't get cramps. Last month and this month I've had cramps. I've had different type of cramps {the type when food disagrees with you ...} but these are obviously different.

  • I want to punch people who infantilize old people.

OH MY GOD YES!!!!  I had a roommate who would talk nonstop about how cuuuuute her grandparents were and it drove me up the fucking wall.  Bitch, these are grown ass adults who have like four times the life experience you do. "Isn't she just the most adorable thing in her little apron?"  Umm, no.  She is a highly proficient adult who deserves respect.
My mum says this about her granny - whom she highly respected and loved dearly - so I think it has a lot to do with tone.
Mind you, when my mum spoke of her grandmother it was always "Isn't she adorable? She could kick your ass and whip up a huge meal also."
    {side note - my great-grandmother was 4'11" lmao}
  • Today's vent is the woman who acts like she believes she is the first woman in the history of EVER to be pregnant, and she's a) fragile as porcelain and b) the most specialist woman on the planet.

    Get a grip.

I agree that tone is everything. Anyone can be cute, adorable, etc. But when it's all exaggerated and gets higher pitched at the end of the word, STFU.

I was listening to my boss talk to his mom the same way I talk to my dog. "Hi, MOOOOM! Did you see the BAY-BEEEEEE?"

Try to get any policy in writing NOW!  Then when new person comes in you have written out what was promised of you!  Even if you email HR lady now and say, "I just wanted a confirmation on what we previously spoke about for my maternity leave.  You promised x, y, and z, correct?"  And if she just responds with a yes that's correct, you have your back up to get what was promised.
that's a good idea. We have a written policy but it is outdated and the practice is different. She sent me a spreadsheet for leave (like to say when I want PTO used vs unpaid time off) so I will fill that out and add some commentary from our discussion before she leaves so I can use that just in case.

    Warning: TMI.

Right around when I turned 30 (I wasn't on BC at the time), my cramps got a lot worse and new symptoms appeared.  My flow is a lot heavier than before.  I started getting backaches, but only during my period.  I also started having weird digestive issues...also only during my period.  Stomach aches in the middle of the night, like I'd eaten something that didn't agree with me, except it is always a day or two before and/or during my period.

I've been on BC again for a few years now.  That helps with all the symptoms, but did not make any of them go away.

Aging.  It sucks.  I feel like I traded perky boobs for more period problems.  Not a good trade at all, lol.

  • This is a good time for a vent post on super rude people.

I'm not currently advertising for my rental units at the new duplex, because it still needs work.  But I do check out the "Housing Wanted" section of Craigs List, because those are often people with unique situations who are looking for housing.

So I talked to this one woman for 20 minutes on the phone.  They are having a hard time because they have a pitbull, though professionally trained from puppyhood.  I'm fine with dogs.  I give her the deets.  Warn the place is still being fixed up, but invite her to come take a look.  She's cool with all that.

We were supposed to meet last week Sunday at noon.  I send her a text at 10AM, verifying we are still on (we had both agreed we'd verify).  At 11:35AM, she tells me she can't make it because her daughter has the stomach flu.  I'm a little side-eye, because she should have notified me right away.  MUCH LESS not reply to MY text for 90 minutes.  But fine.  She's supposedly still really interested in seeing it and will let me know later in the week when we can reschedule.

She texts me back last week on Tues. or Wed., asking if Friday evening would work for me.  We set up a 7PM time (her choice) and I let her know I'll send a text to confirm a few hours before that.  Sent a text at 5PM on Friday to confirm.  No response ever.

What is wrong with people?!?!  I don't give two s**ts if she changed her mind or found another place or whatever, but for the love of all that's holy she can't take 20 seconds to send a text message letting me know that?  Or even reply back to mine.  That's just hugely rude and inconsiderate.

I'd like to say that's unusual.  But I've found, if a potential tenant is going to cancel a showing, they only let me know about 50% of the time.  Even when I send a confirmation text.  Hence why I send those!

I'm going to start hitting men with my store carts.  I swear to all that is holy, I had to say excuse me to \4 different men, multiple times, who saw me coming down an aisle and didn't move out of standing in the center of it.  And then one guy bumped into me in an aisle.  I didn't see him and I didn't hear an excuse me.  THIS IS MY SPACE AND I WILL OWN IT.  Grrrrrr.

Then one man was all up in my business at the check out line.  He actually nudged me with his cart!  I turned around and gave a death glare and he backed up.  You're not getting through the fvcking line any faster asswipe, I have to put the card in and sign for it, no matter what!

    Dude. Do it.

I literally get anxiety about shopping at Meijer because there are always 10,000 people there and not a one has any idea what they are doing or that there are 9,999 other people in the store. I get hairy eyeballs from people when I say "excuse me"! Ugh!

  • A month ago, my perinatologist's office called to schedule my anatomy scan. I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer. The voicemail said she went ahead and scheduled me for October 10 in the afternoon at the location closest to me (left the address too) and to call back if that time didn't work. I called because the time didn't work since it's easier for H to get off work in the mornings than it is the afternoons. When I called her she said the next available appointment was the 26th so told her to keep the original appointment. To which she says, "Okay, now that's at our other office (which is 45 minutes away from me)." My OB isn't happy that the anatomy scan is so far out since it's supposed to be done between 18-20 weeks and I'll be 24 weeks, but they originally blamed her saying she wrote the orders requiring me to see a genetic counselor. Now they're blaming me for not taking the appointment on the 10th which had it been in the office 20 minutes away like they said, I would have. Apparently, I left an impression, though, because the nurse told me "She said she remembered you."

I'm on bc and it's not a new brand. I've had digestive issues for awhile now - ended up being linked to certain foods just disagree with me, plus if I have anxiety/stress, it affects me there.

    I'm wondering if it's an age thing though :( Seems like since I turned 29 this has been an issue. {side eyeing that hardcore!}
I guess we'll see next year since my H and I discussed me going off bc ;)
  • Why can nobody in my office do their damn jobs????????? I have spent my entire day today cleaning up other people's messes. It is freaking ridiculous. To make things even worse, it hinders my productivity when I get files that are just thrown together and have a lot of mistakes in them. I then have to hold the files while I wait for those mistakes to be fixed. My boss wants a list of what I did at the end of the day every day (another rant for another day), so it looks to him like I did nothing all day on days like today.

Can you not write down something like, "Notified X of corrections needed and waited for appropriate correction to file"?

Yeah I make notes on everything and copy him on every email request for corrections or missing items. So he is fully in the loop and understands. It's just frustrating to feel like I spin my wheels all day long.

THAT would be infuriating.  We do what we have to do, but that would be a tough one for me to swallow.  Hopefully he has a good reason for such micro-management but, otherwise, I'd feel patronized and a bit insulted.

Unfortunately he is just controlling and a major micromanager by nature. He does it to every single person in our office. It drives me absolutely insane and it really is insulting.

  • Close the &@%$@ door on the freezer and refrigerator at work - it isn't that hard! Monday morning I walked in and everything in the big work freezer was warm - the door had been left open. Today I walk in to my side of the office where we have a dorm size refrigerator and the door was ajar. Luckily only the things in the door were warm (drinks) everything else seemed cold still. Cmon people it isn't that difficult

Hold up I missed this....this is the same boss that is blatantly violating the law?  Maybe you should ask him for a list of all of the laws he didn't break at the end of each day.  Needless to say, I don't do micromanagement well.

@CMGragain I love that!  I call it the Monster Mash.

Bahahaha yes @kimmiinthemitten same guy!!!! I don't do micromanagement well either. I'm always tempted to say some sarcastic remark about it. This whole place is just out of control on so many levels.
