Wedding Woes

Tuesday

And it's raining...again.  My kids were jackasses this morning.

Also, I totally skipped a dinner plan for tonight on my menu.  So now I either punt or it's  'you're on your own'.  Door #2 looks mighty tempting.

I have PMS and everything is pissing me off today.  At least the weather fits my mood, I guess.

Re: Tuesday

  • I'm with you on the weather thing! So tired of all the rain. I just want to stay inside and hibernate but can't. I'd go for door #2 also.
  • Door #2!!  Door #2!!

DH and I are bickering over mattresses.  I've done a lot of research on the firmness we want/need, and DH is just man-charging ahead with "We need a firm mattress."  No, dearest, I'm a side-sleeper and far too petite for a firm mattress.  A firm mattress would, and has, destroy my back.  You're also not very large, and also a side sleeper.  We currently sleep on a firm mattress (cheap as hell, granted), but all I hear is "my back and neck hurt."  (<-- Me, today)

I'm also tired of hearing, "Why do we need a bedframe?"

Um, because we're 30yo and I think it's beyond ridiculous that we still sleep on the floor?

Sometimes I think he's bullheaded because he knows it pushes my buttons.

We have, at least, settled on a brand and a size.

Other than that, SSDD.  I'm trying to get back into running because while the fit of my clothes is more or less fine/normal, I don't like the way my clothes hang on my body anymore.  I hit the first hill last night and thought I might die.  I yearn for the days when running used to be something I did for fun.

  • I'm also sad I finished Sense8.  I hope they don't go so long between season 2 and 3 as they did between 1 and 2.
  • So. Much. Grading. I was up until midnight grading and still not done this morning. The house is a mess and probably not getting cleaned until tomorrow.
  • Boo for jackass kids and rain and PMS, mrsconn!  Door #2 sounds like a plan!

I am overdue in thanking you for the following recommendations:
    - Crimetown podcast
    - Costco leggings (like wearing a cloud!!!)
    - Costco camis (wonderous)

So much adulting today.  Ordering food, going to Costco, working.  Sigh.  I remembered to get a Mother's Day card for my aunt (who is also my godmother) in today's mail, so it gets to her in time.

S/O Mother's Day, I snagged Biltmore tickets for my mom and the Heffa family.  That should be fun.  Sadly, brunch was sold out (so I'm not that good at adulating), so I need to find someplace off property.  Maybe by my mom, before we hit the road.

LOLing at "why do we need a bedframe?"

Have you looked at memory foam?  We got the kiddo a pretty reasonable memory foam mattress from Costco and a bedframe (which I put together myself) from Overstock. We also have memory foam.  Both beds are platform and we don't have a box spring.  However, you do need to put down plywood over the platform slats.

  • @mrsconn23  door 2! I watched one ep of Sense8 season 2, but haven't had time to watch rest. I'm probably binging it this weekend :P Apparently it wasn't a huge hit right off the bat, which is why it took awhile to even get accepted for season 2

I read that, but also it's my understanding that one of the creators (whom were responsible for the Matrix trilogy) transitioned and need to step away while going through the process.   Plus, it seems like it probably takes a ton of time to film and produce since they are globe-hopping to tell all the Sensates stories.

I may binge both seasons back to back this summer.   It's one of the best shows I watch between the story and the visuals.

I love the care at which they've taken with the relationships between Nomi and Amanita, and Lito and Hernando.  It's so normalized, happy, and supportive and not 'specialized' because they're in 'queer' relationships.  All of the relationships are pretty great despite everything going on around them.
  • I've been awake since 4am - and I've been at work since 6:30am. I am a zombie. I just want to say screw it to today, go home, and fall asleep catching up on all the RHONY episodes in my DVR.

Lana and Lilly Wachowski. Although I just did a quick google search and apparently they're both trans, I thought only one was.

I love Nomi! She actually is trans and I think that makes the character so much more real to things she talks about going through.
  • @DrillSergeantCat  Can the recruiter talk to them to see why they're going so low?

Yes and Yes.  I think it's Lana that transitioned between seasons, but I could be wrong.  Lana directed at least 2 episodes this season.

The interviewer said they'd "discussed salary and decided it wouldn't be fair to other, existing employees if they started a new employee higher than that."

It needs some layering on the top and side to get more of the texture I want. I've got curly hair, with straight sections. She was cutting lots of inches off and was worried that it would curl up funny without the weight.  I haven't had my hair this short in 10+ years.  She told me straight up it would be a couple of haircuts to get it right.  It's not awful, just not 100%.
  • @mrsconn23 we are only looking at memory foam, at the moment.  I think we're going to go with Amerisleep Liberty.  DH wants the Revere, but I think he'll hate it.

I had the same argument with my ex. He insisted on a firm mattress. I woke up feeling bruised and beaten for a month.

Which makes sense but I mean they're so close, you'd think they'd make an exception.

Ahh okay. Curly hair sometimes can be a little 'difficult' apparently {just more because of layers, etc} I'm sure it looks great though regardless :)

That just kind of tells me that they're unwilling to pay what their employees are worth. I'd be coming to them as an accountant and they're wanting to start me at bookkeeper salary. So what are they paying the other accountants?

I just emerged from Tech Support Hell.  Almost 45 minutes and we spent the first 30 just verifying who I am and having him take over my computer.  I made the huge mistake of not having breakfast before I called them.  Never call Tech Support hungry.  Oh!  And my problem didn't get fixed.  It needs to be "escalated" to the next circle.  Just for icing on the cake, the guy screwed up all my Internet passwords!  None of them are automatically saved anymore.  FOR NOTHING.  ARGH!!!!!!!  My frustration levels are really at an all-time high right now.

We're in pretty desperate need of groceries.  I usually go on Fridays after work.  But I haven't worked the last two Fridays and couldn't leave my house without losing my parking because of the festival.  I'm debating between muddling through, by hook or crook, until then.  Or dragging my H out when I get home.  We "shopped" our freezer over the weekend, lol.

Edited to add.  I forgot to mention our BBQ/Smoker died over the weekend.  We've been shopping for another one.  We really liked the combo of also being able to smoke meats.  The last one we had was a killer clearance deal from Sam's Club.  I'm not expecting to be that lucky this time, lol.

As I was driving into work in the pouring rain I thought I should just head back home and work from home. But I kept going since I have a new haircut and I looked nice, so why waste it. Got to work for an hour and realized I forgot some things I needed for pumping .... so I had to go back home anyway. Fail. But now I'm comfy at home trying to work and not organize the house

Really need to hit the gym tonight but my knee has been killing me lately. Tired of being old!

Don't you hate that? It seems like once a week I forget some part of my pump.
