Wedding Woes

Tuesday?

Work is sllloooowwww...Ugh.  I'm hoping that we had project stuff to work on that we had a couple weeks ago.  Otherwise, no idea what to do to pass the time.

I think DH is going to be off on my next Wednesday off.  We're going to try and get some shopping for the kids done.  He did find out he's getting a tiny bonus (pro-rated since he just started in Sept).  YAY for that.  ;)

I have so much Christmas shopping to do.  I hope to get some orders in this coming weekend.

What's up with y'all?

Re: Tuesday?

  • Hellooooooooo

Congrats on your H's bonus, @mrsconn23!!!

Thanksgiving was a whirlwind. I was still fighting a cold and DD was fussy so I ate wearing her while standing up so I could eat at the same time as everyone else. Hosting for the first time was stressful at times but I'm glad we did it. And all future Thanksgivings will be easy by comparison lol.

I'm still sick. I really just need sleep since I can't take any cold meds. But the baby has been getting up a couple of times at night for the past week, so it will be awhile before I can start catching up on sleep.

My Sephora order was shipped by Sephora to a LaserShip facility in Queens on the 24th for some reason. And it was supposed to be delivered to me (5.5 hours away in MA) yesterday, but that never happened. A 46-minute call with Sephora customer service resulted in me finding out that LaserShip lost the package and Sephora would only reship items to me (only two of which were actually still available now) after they did an investigation. WTF So I cancelled my order altogether and am going to place it with another company. This is definitely not the first time I've had issues like this with LaserShip. When are companies going to stop using them? They're completely unreliable.
  • congrats on the bonus @mrsconn23, prorated is excellent.  Our company doesn't give those out unless you have a year under your belt.  Christmas shopping. ugh! Thankfully I don't have many people to buy for.
@sparklepants41, how annoying! Never heard of lasership but they don't sound so good.

Work is slooow too.  I got up to work out again, and this time netflix worked - but now I'm hungrier than earlier and tired!  This workout first thing in the a.m. is a lose lose, man.

H and I are set to see Coco tonight.  Looking forward to it.

@CharmedPam they are a 3rd party courier service. One of the design firms I used to work for had an account with them - until a lot of their deliveries were either delivered late or not at all. Many companies use them for deliveries in areas where UPS might be maxed out. They're awful.

Edited to add: the Lasership employee in Queens tried to tell Sephora customer service that the package had been delivered at first, then backtracked to say that they delivered it to the wrong address near their warehouse (um, obviously it was wrong - they are in Queens, NY and I am just outside Boston, MA) and THEN they finally backtracked to say it was lost altogether.
  • Back at work today.  DD has croup, so I was off with her yesterday, but Grandma came over today to look after her so DH and I could both work.  She's feeling pretty good, and only had one coughing fit last night (right before waking up this morning), so I think she's on the mend.

Work is slow, but I have a few things to close out before year end, I'm just lacking motivation right now.

  • @mrsconn23 Yay for bonus :)

@sparklepants41 sleep vibes for you :( and boo Sephora order! I've only ordered online once - last year - and it came in really quick. Damn

@CharmedPam have you seen 'Book of Life' ? Looks very similar. And yeh,  downside about even waking earlier is you get hungry earlier. I vote eat early lol

@VarunaTT glad you had a good vacation :) Hope you feel well rested - physically and mentally

Last night went to my granny's place for dinner and to tell my uncle I'm pregnant - plus show my granny most recent ultrasound.
I figured out how to successfully upload a photo, so I'll show you ladies the recent one later :)

My uncle was like "Oh just looking at this, I say it's a boy"
What I wanted to say was "have you ever seen an ultrasound?"

    What I did say was "I have a feeling it's a girl tbh :| "

My granny also isn't a fan of one of my mum's friends and apparently she found out that this friend knew before some family. So needless to say, she was bitching about it to M before I got there. M doesn't feel comfortable enough to say anything .... so I talked to my mum about it, and she's gonna say something .... again.
    Urg drama lol

M was suppose to do his tires tonight but he needs an impact gun, but he needs to wait until he's paid Thursday to buy it. Damn you budget lol!
At least it's not crap weather all week, so it won't be that bad.

I made the horrible decision to take a quick look at my house before I left. Dear gawd mess!! Since M's xmas party is Sunday evening, I've told him we're dedicating this weekend to cleaning. Serious cleaning. We've lost our hall bench, dining table and slowly losing coffee table lol!
Sunday I cleaned the kitchen, so we have our counter space again. Just needs to be scrubbed down .... again.
  • Sllllooowww at work for me also.  Though that isn't so much the time of year, as it is the time of the month.  But end of month reports are just a couple days away, so I'll enjoy my extra Knotting time while I have it.

I did a mystery shop at a grocery store last night.  Such a great shop!  It paid $17.  I literally drive past the store on my way home, so no extra driving time.  The shop itself took less than 15 minutes and the report took 10 minutes.  That is some good pay for the time involved.  Funny enough, one of my tenants works at this store.  I was really hoping I wouldn't run into her, lol.  And I didn't.  Nothing against her, I just like to stay as incognito as possible.

It is mystery shop city for me, this week.  That sometimes happens at the end of the month, because schedulers will start throwing out good bonuses to get open shops done before the month closes.  I have a restaurant mystery shop tonight (reimbursement, plus $8 bonus).  A casual restaurant shop tomorrow (reimbursement, $12 fee plus $4 bonus).  And a fast food mystery shop on Thursday (reimbursement, $11 fee).

  • @misskittydanger, no haven't heard of it! will look out for it.  I am really excited to see what you're having as well! Are you going 'surprise' or will you find out?

@short+sassy, I did a few mystery shops a few years ago. It really wasnt bad, but I had to be REALLY detailed in my answers, and I dunno, I wasn't good at write ups I guess?  I see the casino ones all the time and I have an itch to go there.  I have never seen restaurant ones.  What company do you use? Can you please PM the name because I'd be interested in restaurant MS instead of retail.

  • @CharmedPam SAME! No surprises for us. We're doing a gender reveal party where immediate family and we find out at the same time. M's dad's side is a very strong male gene, and tbh I feel like this is a girl. I won't be pissed if it's a boy, but more surprised because I have that weird feeling.

I know "Book of Life" is on netflix canada, but check yours. Could be there :)

Generally speaking, restaurant shops require a LOT of narrative.  More than most retail shops.

I've done casino shops before.  They are definitely the most advanced type of shop.  Typically, there are a lot of details to keep track of ie, people's names and timings.  There is also a lot of narrative involved.  But they typically pay great and can be fun shops to do.  If I were you, I'd tackle a couple restaurant shops before taking on a casino one.

I'll e-mail you some of the MS companies I know that have restaurant shops.  I'll also keep an eye out for Illinois opportunities, as I get shop invitations in.  Most companies list all the shops they have available across the country.

The restaurant shop I'm doing tonight and the casual one I'm doing tomorrow, both tend to be a bit on the lighter side for restaurant narratives.  I looked them up and they both have locations in Illinois.  I'll give more details in my e-mail.

  • Still applying for jobs and waiting to hear back.
  • I want to complain that I'm tired, but DH has been up since 1:45.  He's going to be a barrel of monkeys tonight.

I went for a run this morning and tripped on a tree root.  I've got some bruising popping up already. I'm going cross eyed with the job I'm doing right now and my boss is testing me.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE SCHOOL IS BACK!  Even Max had preschool.  Christmas break is going to get interesting.

Continued best wishes on that!  If I could kick that one company into gear for you, I would.

I hope it turns out to be a blessing in disguise and you find an even better opportunity.

I once had a company's HR (they were in Jersey) contact me to set up an interview with their office in NOLA.  Hurricane Sandy hit, in the meantime.  The HR guy e-mailed back to postpone the interview to a later date and that he would get back to me.  Their office wasn't affected, but other company locations were.  About 3 weeks later, I sent a follow up e-mail to inquire about the interview reschedule.  No response.

Found my current job.  Which has been great.

10 months after the first e-mail.  Yes.  TEN months, lol.  The same HR guy gets back to me that they are re-visiting hiring for that position and was I still interested in interviewing.  I explained my current situation and inquired about the salary range.  Yeeesh!  They were way underpaying for the experience/skills they wanted.  That was a hard no, lol.

  • Every morning is the day I'm going to log in early, and well, my posting history reveals the truth.

Thanksgiving weekend was great.  Spent the entire weekend with H (unheard of for us).  Got in lots of BCBC.  Decorated for Christmas.  Still debating if he's going to run for office or not.  Poor guy, I can tell he really wants to, but we can't afford for him to take an unpaid leave for 6 pay periods to campaign.  And this is exactly why so many legislators suck.

I'm currently working with three brides and on a roll at work!  I'm feeling my good sales vibes come back, so I'm calling on venues tomorrow to increase our awareness while I'm hot.

    @mrsconn23 Congrats on the bonus!

    @Jen4948 that sucks, I'm sorry!

@MissKittyDanger how do you plan on doing it?  I saw an idea I actually really liked the other day.  A group of people thought they were getting together for a group picture and instead the person taking the photo yelled out "It's a boy!"  Watching everyone's reaction was really great and heartwarming, especially since they didn't know the announcement was coming then.

  • @kimmiinthemitten That's a cute idea :) Mainly because we don't wanna know either, we're gonna get the ultrasound tech to write it on paper and take that to a bakery for them to put as cake {stereotypical pink or blue to make it easy}

That way we all find out when it's cut :)  We debated on cupcakes so we didn't see the icing on knife but I know sFIL will wanna take reaction photos so that got changed. Plus I may have someone record it for prosperity and so I can show my bff via fb video chat :)

I kinda love the gender reveal videos that pop up on my fb feed.  I wont go out of my way to find one, but I'll always play a video if it's on the feed.  They're fun!

  • @CharmedPam There are some great ones on youtube. My fave are ones that they reveal it's multiples :)

I know someone who did that as their pregnancy announcement to their family. They were taking family photos and the photographer was like "everyone say XYZ is pregnant" and the photographer captured the confused and then shocked faces of their family members once they realized what was said.

I've seen that happen too! If we knew around a time we were seeing my mum and MIL, we were gonna do something like that except it'd be probably along the lines of "you're gonna be grandmothers!"
  • I think he should run @kimmiinthemitten if you can find a way to make it work. It's a good time, we need good people, and it sounds like he has support, which is key. I know it's a hard decision, but might be amazing.

Work is crazy, I'm exhausted, and I can't wait for H to come home tomorrow. Not because I miss him, but because I'm so tired of having to constantly be the only one walking the dog.
  • Work has been SO frustrating and not with my coworkers but with things like missing freight or suppliers who can't tell me when they'll supply.

It's 3:30 and I'm eating lunch now - the removed crust from my kid's sandwich.
  • edited November 2017
@kimmiinthemitten I vote he runs also!

@charlotte989875 married life - you don't miss him, you want him to walk the dog ;)

I didn't know you had my job, lol.

It can actually be kind of cool.  The client I work for has a section of their intranet where I can follow where the shipping containers go, once they arrive on site.  Most stuff is delivered up a mountain.  I can "see" as it gets to the Warehouse on Mile 32.  Then Mile 67, etc.  Then I can "watch" the container head back down the mountain, back to port, and back onto a ship.  Presumably empty.  At least it should be, lol.

Of course, all of that is after I've already wrangled with our suppliers.

Oh, @banana468, crust for lunch?  You deserve better!
