    I'll mention it.

The issue is that incident #1 with this child was on the bus so it wasn't from the daycare.

Other decent part - She's not there long before the school bus and he isn't there for after care.

That said, DH and I are just not fans of him and I think the mom knows there's not much that she'll do about it.   I get an impression that she knows she can't effect change in her home.
    That sucks.

I don't have kids (so take this for a grain of salt), but it sounds like there are probably some issues at home, or at least very least the kid is learning that pushing and hurting others is okay (or at least not punished). If the bolded is true, too there are probably some bigger issues.

Poor Chiquita though, even if you understand how this can happen with other kids I'm sure she doesn't. I also vote ice cream for dinner.

It's not often that I feel like I'm fighting back tears and this was one of those moments that I just felt like I was so helpless and yet so proud of my kid.

I feel bad for BNB.   I think his parents aren't raising him with a skill set to hold in his emotions and deal with himself in an intelligent rational way.

So in a way he's also the victim.   That said, I don't want my daughter to be forced to be a victim again.
  • So sorry Chiquita is going through this at school @banana468. Hopefully the school won't put them in the same class next year.

Yesterday started out with a bang - literally. Some guy, who we think stole a car (BMW), turned onto our street and lost control of the car. He plowed through our neighbor's yard and into ours hitting a rather large boulder. He missed our house by  inches and ended up in our basketball goal. We live downhill on a rather steep hill. Luckily the basketball goal stopped the car or he would have hit my car that was in our driveway with a Uhaul trail hooked to it ready to go to Chicago! The guy jumped out and ran into the woods. I was in the house so didn't see any of this happen. H was taking the dogs to the kennel. When he came back police cars were all over our street. We live in a pretty quiet area so this was really unusual. The police were great. They told us we could go ahead and leave. We wanted to stick around to make sure the tow truck was able to get the car out without hitting the house. Thankfully, the house and my car are fine. We have some landscaping repair to do and a basketball goal to be removed. That thing is securely set in concrete and the car still shoved it!

After all that excitement, the rest of the day was uneventful. We are at DD's for the weekend, and I can't sleep. She is having some BP issues - nothing huge, but I think she is going to stop working now. No sense in putting those babies or herself at risk!

    Happy Mother's Day!

Whoa!  What a crazy story!  I'm so glad your all's car and Uhaul weren't damaged and the weekend trip to Chicago was not derailed or delayed.

I had something similar happen at a previous place I lived.  Some guy had been arrested and was in the back of a police car.  The police officer stopped somewhere else and left the car.  Somehow, the guy got into the front seat and stole the police car.  He first crashed into a historical marker in my neighbor's yard.  The car bounced off and then hit my landlady's car (parked on the street).  It was a multi-family house and she also lived there.  The guy got away and the police wouldn't let anyone leave our house or enter it for HOURS.

Unfortunately, I had happened to run out (less than 30 minutes) to go pick up some fast food for dinner and got stuck with nowhere to go.  I was understanding about the situation for the first two hours.  Decidedly less so in Hour 4 and almost my bed time :(.  After raising a fuss multiple times, one of the police officers finally escorted me to my front door and I could finally go home.  FTR, I was standing in the median across the street from my house the whole time.  There were also constantly a bunch of police officers standing around, so I have no idea why this couldn't have happened sooner.  Even the crime van had already left an hour before they let me back in.  They eventually caught the guy, but not until the next day.

  • I have a crazy stolen car story; the last year H and I were in grad school we were living in an upper apartment in the city, in a really nice area, but that was having some increases in small crime. We didn't have off street parking so H parked his car on the far side of the street right in front of the house. At 3 in the morning we hear a loud ringing noise (we'd never actually heard the doorbell before) and after about 5 minutes I insist H goes and checks out the noise. He doesn't come back in bed so I go and find him.

There are two police officers at the door asking H where he last saw his car; he looks behind them and points to a now empty spot on the street. Turns out someone stole the car, drove it a few miles down the road and crashed it into the porch of a house. Left it there and took off on foot. They never caught the guys and H's insurance paid for him to get a new car.

Thanks, we did have a nice but very busy visit. Next time I'm up there I'll be a Nana!!!! (probably)

Now we are working on getting estimates for repairing the landscape. We aren't sure if we will file an insurance claim since we have a $2500 deductible. It will all depend on how much the repairs will cost. Also, don't want our HO insurance to skyrocket or be canceled.
