Wedding Woes

Friday!!

It's Friday! Are we doing anything fun this weekend?

Tonight H, my sister and I are going to an Ozzy concert. It's his farewell, I guess. I haven't seen him in years but when I was a kid I was OBSESSED. He changed my musical life. I was listening to Spice Girls and NSYNC, then I stole an Ozzy CD from my sister and here I am today. LOL

Tomorrow morning I have a tattoo removal consultation, which I'm excited about. Sunday H and I are doing another leather class so that should be boring and lame, but I'm trying to be a good wife!

Someone is in the kitchen area of the office, blowing their nose. I no longer feel bad about coming in on Tuesday.

Re: Friday!!

  • SSDD here.  Usually Fridays are our free night, but not this week.  M2 has 2 scrimmages and 6let has keeper training.  6let has an 8 am game tomorrow (30 minutes away!) and Max has an 8:30 one:(

6let had a speed and agility class last night and OH MY GOSH IT WAS FUNNY!  He was like a baby giraffe out there.  All elbows and knees going every different directions.  The coach tried to get them to do burpee pushups and hahahahahh

  • I’m having a hard time focusing today. Trying to knock things off my to do list and it’s jist not happening. I have a performance eval at 11 that I’m a little nervous about.

Happy hour with some friends tonight. We’ve been trying to meet up all summer and it hasn’t happened.

Tomorrow H and I have painting land, I’m playing two football games (hopefully my calf is all good to go!) and not sure what else. Probably house projects. Sunday is football and more house projects. That’s pretty much our weekends from now until forever.
  • Have fun at ozzy @ShesSoCold

I was up at 5:30 today cleaning.  I didn't get around to it last night because I was just to darn lazy.  But it's all done now.  I have a games meet-up tonight and then after that I'm picking my p's up at the airport.
Tomorrow is lunch with some friends and dinner/drinks with my parents.  Sunday is the baptism.  So...much like the 'dreaded gap' in the wedding, there's a 2.5 hour gap after the baptism while they take pictures and then an early dinner at 4:30 p.m. We don't really know what to do and it's 45 minutes from my house so it's not worth going back.  my Dad's not much of a shopper and I have no money and who wants to shop with a budget of $0.00?

  • Sunday H and I are doing another leather class so that should be boring and lame, but I'm trying to be a good wife!
So, a leather class in my little neck of life is something very different apparently, b/c "boring and lame" wouldn't be applicable.  :D

K has an out of town booking tonight that I'm looking forward to.  They've got a new number, a male cover of, "Bitch, I'm Madonna."  Cheetah print slim fit pants, black tank, and pink biker jacket with the back as completed below (it sparkles so much, I should've taken a video).  I can't wait to see this number, it'll be fun.  K will go on to a derby game (THE LAST AWAY GAME OF THE SEASON WITH ONLY ONE MORE GAME DOWN, YES) and home on Sunday.  I've just got to get the danged apartment organized.  Basically, I moved out of my home with nearly nothing so had a mostly empty apartment, K moved in with me with all sorts of stuff, and it's been a hard merging.  We're still working through everything, almost a year later.
  • We're leaving for vacation tonight and I could not be more excited. That initiative a work that I was excited about has become a huge political/territorial cluster and another team is actively trying to throw me under the bus for mistakes they made. I'm livid and so is my boss but thankfully he's super supportive. It will get worked out, but just so ridiculous that it even happened in the first place. Also, don't try to blame someone for something you did when there is a very public email chain - it won't work out for you. I need to get out of here for a bit! We're flying out tonight and staying with friends in CO all weekend, then I have a work conference for a few days, 2 days off in CO, then heading to the mountains for the etiquette disaster wedding next weekend before coming home. We're seeing a lot of friends all week and i'm super excited!
  • First, my rant, lol.  This is a coworker I've complained about before, who I have recently started working with.  Though only occasionally.  Thank goodness.  She was the one who got bitchy with me about how I "should always format dates like this 2018-09-21."

Anyway, she came to me around 3PM yesterday with "urgent" reports she needs asap.  Except she wants me to check with the 4 leads first before I give her the finalized ones.  Except I'm really busy on Fridays and am only here a half day.  Some of those leads only work every other Fri.  Oh!  And just for good measure.  One of the reports she wants isn't even in my database.  So I need to get our DB Admin. involved and gather a bunch of info for him to do that.  As well as get in touch with the lead engineer for this one and...hopefully...get a list of Material Requisitions for this project.  Or there won't be any report to run anyway, lol.  I mean, whatever, I'll do the best I can and get it as soon as I can.  But I doubt it will be today and I know she wants it today.  She doesn't really understand the processes yet.  It also doesn't help that she has a brusque personality and she gives me the slightest vibe that I'm "beneath her".

Anyway, not a huge deal.  It's just annoying and has put a wrinkle in my day.

Looking forward to the weekend!  I have to stop at the bank after work.  Will probably pick up something yummy for lunch.  I have a gift I want...a steam mop...to pick up on Sat. from one of the local casinos.  It's been awhile since I've played video poker and I've been feeling the need!  So I'll go visit a machine once I've picked up my gift.  If I pick a good one, it will really make my afternoon, lol.  But I'll have fun either way.

  • Work today and tomorrow. Yesterday I upgraded my phone to get the new iPhone and I’m pretty excited. I have a 6s, which is basically ancient at this point. It’s been dying every four hours and the camera doesn’t always work so it’s time. I typically keep my phones forever (relatively speaking) so I don’t feel too guilty about it. I always buy the phones that are two generations old, but then they slow down quickly after a year or two. I’m ready to have a shiny new trendy phone.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

  • Ugh @short+sassy your coworker sounds super annoying.
Tomorrow we are going to the 1st birthday party for one of Babypants' friends - that is scheduled in such a way that she will miss her afternoon nap and we won't have time to do our usual Saturday family "brupper" afterwards. Oh well. It's just one day.
On Sunday I am hoping to buy myself some new fall boots and booties - I love boot weather!!!

I have the 6plus too! Battery crashes SO FAST. And yeah, I'm eyeing the new iphone. I think I have a free upgrade, just pay taxes on it, so why not?

LOL, here I am talking to my sister about getting matching tats.  The sister I thought would NEVER (ever, ever, ever) get a tattoo.  ;)

Have fun at Ozzy!  DH is a HUGE fan of his former guitarist Zakk Wylde and his band Black Label Society.  (The man is also a Taylor Swift superfan.  His range of taste in music (and fandom) is eternally amusing to me.)

Tonight and tomorrow is cleaning and more cleaning (nothing like company to force you to clean).  Hopefully we can watch some more Ozark.  We're not even out of season 1 yet.  Sunday, my family is coming over to do bdays (we have 4 between mid-Sept and mid-Oct; BIL, dad, sister,  and nephew).

Mom has a tentative surgery date.  I honestly had a mini panic attack yesterday when I got the text from her.  So many emotions.
Yes, so are we!! I was genuinely disappointed when I heard that BLS wasn't opening for Ozzy. It seems appropriate.

Do you mind sharing what tattoo you're thinking about with your sister? I've seen some really sweet ideas.

  • I'm so ready for this week to be over. It's been a lot of "I hate my job, why am I doing this" all week.

Fun weekend to look forward to. Tonight H and I are joining some of his family for a 3 mile walk/run. I adore his family and I also need to get a run in so it's a win/win.

Tomorrow morning/afternoon I will probably spend doing work. We may to go an event at our favorite brewery but we'll see. Tomorrow night, H and I are going to a beer pairing dinner at Wegmans that's sponsored by said favorite brewery. Our anniversary is next week so this is our gift to each other. The menu sounds fantastic and we know the beer will be good.

Sunday morning is Half day! I will be going to bed as soon as I get home Saturday night so I can be up by 4:30 am. Race starts at 7:30 and I'm hoping for a 2:30 finishing time. It's a difficult course and I've been slacking on training so it may be a lofty goal.

Sunday afternoon will be spent not moving, watching football and making pumpkin risotto. I cannot wait.

She just suggested it today, out of the blue.  She's working on a design right now.  but something to honor our parents and tie us in as well.  Once we have something, I'll share it.  ;)

I went to one BLS concert with DH.  It was wild and fun.  They were on a club tour with Down (the remaining members of Pantera).  So much moshing/slam dancing.  He's seen Zakk Wylde (with or w/o BLS) 6 or 7 times now.

Yeah metal concerts are fun! I used to go to Ozzfest annually and still try to go to shows. We're going to Cannibal Corpse in November. I've seen Down a couple times, and Damageplan, which makes me sad that I've seen all the members of Pantera, but not Pantera.

When I was a freshman in HS, BLS played a show at a club at the bowling alley in my town. I went there after school just to kind of hang around and see what I could see (21+ show). Some guy took us in to the club and we got to watch the sound check. There were maybe 12 total people in there, I got autographs and pictures (and stole Zakk's empty beer bottle, in true 14-year-old-girl fashion). It was still one of the coolest things I've ever done.

  • @short+sassy the coworker sounds obnoxious. And @CharmedPam a gap for a baptism sounds super obnoxious!! I’ve never heard of that..ouch!

Enjoy your concert @ShesSoCold!  I’m going to Paul Simon tonight.  I saw him once before, at a small, outdoor/tennis stadium venue is his home neighborhood...it was a super special night.  Not sure how tonight’s venue will compare, but I’m still excited.  Hope everyone’s Friday goes quickly!

I know. My mom is not to happy about it! Plus they have a 10:00 o'clock p.m. flight that night so we have 2 hours to kill after that....and my home is 45 minutes in the opposite direction of the airport.  A late lunch at 2 right after the baptism (set at 1) would have made more sense.... we're not sure what other family members will be doing as my bros' IL's do the pictures - but they all kinda live in that general area anyway.

That's supremely dumb.   Baptisms are supposed to go right into a meal.   In my history of attending them that's the first I've ever heard of one with a gap.  That's a stupid plan and they should feel bad for planning it that way.

Now that I am thinking more about it, that is super weird.  I haven't gone to that many baptisms, but it was always:

    • Church
    • Everyone fawns over the baby and congrats the parents in the church courtyard
    • The invited close friends and family head from church to wherever everyone is gathering...usually at the parents or grandparents house...for a light lunch of sandwich, veggie, and fruit platters.

LOL. Seriously - how many pictures do you need at a baptism. Picture of the baptism, picture with godparents, picture of attendees/family. Boom, done. You could take all those in the time it took me to type this.

Yeah - especially if you're not wrangling an older child (Chiquita was a pain in the ass at our Goddaughter's Baptism), you arrange for about 10 minutes of shots.    Done.

And then you feed the people who just watched the event.

    Done.

Well SIL and bro live far(ish) away and I think they're just getting family pictures done that just happens to take place on the baptism day.  Still could have asked for a photographer at 5 or 6 that night....  I'm the godmother and I'm not included.

With their first son they did go back to the home and catered lunch, but apparently the cost of going to this restaurant was the same as catering with no clean up but they don't open till 5?  It's poor planning all around because I know there are places to go that are open before 5.  whatevs.

  • That is NOT how a baptism should work. I’d be honked. Hit the movie and feel no guilt.

M2’s First Communion is at 1:30. Which means we’ll be done ~3. I know it’s not exactly a mealtime but we’re going straight to food anyway.
  • @ShesSoCold have fun at Ozzy! I went to Black Sabbath's final tour and the show was great.

I have my company picnic tomorrow. I'm excited for my H to finally meet my coworkers. No other plans after that.

Look, I get that in house vs. restaurant is somewhat similar in price.   But I'm pretty sure I've eaten meals at 2 or 3 in restaurants.   Sooooo they just suck.

It's nice to see someone else who likes company events!  I think it is nice for coworkers and spouses to be able to put a "face to a name".

The company I work for used to throw an amazing Christmas Party and a Spring Fling.  They were never stingy with the bar or food ;).  For one Spring Fling, they rented out the whole amusement park area in City Park and for another one they rented out a bowling alley.

    However...budget cuts...and now they haven't thrown either for a few years :(.

He was so so good last weekend!! And this is the last stop on the farewell tour so it’s possible it’s his last public concert. Have an awesome time!! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.

It's really nice to work for a company now that still does that. SOs are invited to the holiday dinner, but they rent out a place and have a whole catered meal and open bar. The family picnic tomorrow is at a park and they have a ton of shit - bouncy houses and games and a dunk tank.
  • DH's new company has been doing some fun events- Last Christmas the did an adult only employee+1 at one of those arcade/bowling places and this summer they had an outing at the AAA baseball game.  Both were fun.

We just got the first Christmas party invite from his boss.
