kids are off school so they’re doing a little cleaning then we’re going out to lunch and playing video games.

My my computer is being a butthead and supports response was to take the battery out hmmmmm.

Oh and 6let got invited to try out for the national futsal team!!!!!! We’re off to Kansas City.

Oh YAY 6let!!!!! How exciting!!!!

I'm at work but it's super quiet.

H replaced the drop ceiling in our basement this weekend. And found a porn (with Kelly Kapowski on the cover! LOL) and a small homemade FUCKING BOMB. In the freaking ceiling tiles!

Years ago, after my grandpa died, my grandma found dynamite in the garage (like, from WWII). Twice, actually. The first time, she put it in the trunk and drove it to the police department. They were not pleased that she drove it so the second time, she called. They came out with the whole bomb squad and shit and it was a whole to-do.

So I have to assume that it will be a whole thing for us too. Probably not a good look to have the bomb squad at your house like 2 weeks before it goes on the market.

DH normally has a late phone meeting on Mondays and it was cancelled today “because of a US holiday”. It took us too long to figure out which one, lol.

I am stressing myself out trying to figure out childcare. I have asked everyone I talk too, posted to local FB groups, searched the internet for answers and I still can’t find what I am looking for. It is very frustrating.

We booked Barcelona in April. I am stoked!

Yeah, I mean, it's been there at least 3 1/2 years so I guess I'm not super worried about another couple days but I am for sure calling today when I get home. It is a weird feeling though to know that we purchased and lived in a home with a damned bomb in it.

H knows a little about this kind of thing and he wasn't freaked out so I kind of followed his lead on it. He also didn't tell me about it until late yesterday.

ETA - I was all "How TF do you know it's a bomb!?!" because how would one know? It's a small cylinder (like a toilet paper tube only wider) with one rounded end. It's all wrapped in masking tape and has a definite wick coming out the bottom.

Congrats to 6let!

The kids are in school because it's a make-up snow day.

Weekend was good. Our game night was super fun. Yesterday was the laziest day and I read my book all day long (finished it, in fact). DH and I stayed up wayyyy too late, but sometimes midnight booty is too enticing to pass up.

I am sleepy AF today.

I'm back into a serious funk. There was some drama that happened yesterday and I just realized how much unresolved pain and hurt I have over all of this leadership stuff for the last few years. There are lots of reasons why and I'm tired of all of them.

Otherwise, weekend was decent enough. Watched Bohemian Rhapsody. Have some thoughts and feels, but not ready to unpack yet. Also, just found out, "I'm Not Your Negro" has been added to Prime on Amazon, so will be watching that ASAP. Trying to get back into cooking at home and getting healthy.

ETA: Congrats to 6let! (Got wrapped up in typing and forgot). And holy hell @ the bomb!

I’d probably leave work early and call the police, SSC. You don’t want to be at work anyways. Lol.

I have clinic today. I’m afraid I’m getting sick again and I also have a paper due on Wednesday and a final so I need to work on that over the next two day. I took NyQuil last night but the the cats were the most assholey they’ve been in awhile so I am super exhausted and groggy today. This weekend was okay. I worked and it was nuts. Then yesterday I did a 13 mile hike. Unfortunately it was the one time I didn’t prepare well and so the one time I got caught in a downpour for an hour. I was soaked. But I’m proud of myself for finishing it and it was beautiful.

I'm working today. Not a holiday at the company I work for, smh.

My H and I had a weird lunch on Sat. Neighbors we're good friends with invited us out to a nearby restaurant. It's two elderly ladies. One of them (D) isn't as social and I'd never spent time with her. The other one (C) is a lot of fun and friendly. I've had social outings with her. My H knows them better than I do because he helps them run errands and go grocery shopping.

That's the background. Initially, it was a really lovely lunch and I was glad to have a chance to get to know D better. Neither D nor my H drink, but C and I split two half carafes of Sangria. Toward the end of the meal, C also ordered two Courvoisiers for herself. Ugh, terrible mistake. She went 0 to 60 from buzzed to extremely intoxicated. She fell asleep at the table, to the extent we couldn't even wake her up enough to get to the car. OMG, we were there SO long waiting for her just to get sober enough to wake up and "kind of" walk to the car. She was still really drunk when we were finally able to leave and uses a cane on top of that. My H was holding her on the non-cane side. Both myself and our server were flanking her, jic she started to fall. My H and our server (he was stronger than me) helped her into the car. He was tipped well for everything he had to put up with.

I'm not holding it against C. She's an awesome lady and a good friend. But "note to self for the future", she does not know her limits. My H and I went out to brunch with just her a few months ago and I was surprised how much she'd had to drink at that outing also. But, she seemed fine overall and we didn't have any issues that time. So I wasn't initially alarmed for this lunch. Oh well! At least we got her home safe and sound.

On a cool end note, I learned that D grew up in Conn. She was a member of NOW and marched on Washington a few times for women's rights in the '60s. In fact, she was the one who organized her NOW chapter's bus trips for those. She also marched for animal rights once and this is still one of her passions.

I'm at work today wondering why adults who have been with this company for years still can't grasp that time sheets are due on Monday at 10, are always due on Monday at 10, and without your time sheet I can't pay you or bill clients. Because you see, we need to bill clients in order to get the money to pay you for your work. But I won't know what you worked on if you don't send me your time sheet.

Oooooh good thinking! Our neighbors actually told us once that the old owners' kid blew up their shed so we assume it's from the same people. Our house isn't that old and we're only like the third owners so it'll be easy to narrow down.

And an added plus, we get mail for them 4 times a month (I have "RETURNED TO MOTHERFUCKING SENDER - I SWEAR TO JESUS THIS PERSON DOES NOT FUCKING LIVE HERE" literally every. time.) so I can grab their last name since I'm forgetting it right now...

ETA - Well that was fast. The former owners' kid was arrested at least twice for making ecstasy in my house. He literally said "I'm a scientist, not a user". LMAOOOOOOOO

Whoa! That kid must have accidentally left it behind. Too much coincidence to have been someone else.

Good luck with all of that. I'd call the police, just to be on the safe side. Even a homemade, weak bomb is pretty scary!

You are way nice to keep writing "Return to Sender" on their mail after all this time. I'll do that as a courtesy for 30 days after someone moves but, after that, it goes in the trash. And even in those first 30 days, only for mail that looks real, not junk.

The previous owners of my own home haven't lived there for 9 years. We STILL get mail for them, though most of it is junk mail.

All the mail is from medical insurance companies, so I assume they're important and/or bills.

And, another weird coincidence is that one of the old owners lives behind us.

There's a senior apartment complex right behind my backyard. The first summer we lived there, we were eating dinner and see this little old lady with an oxygen tank peeking out from behind the trees and waving at us. So I go out there and she's the previous owner. Her husband had died there and she sold it.

So the fact that I met her makes me a little more willing to "return to sender" those things.

I also just found the obituary for the guy who made ecstasy and also (assumingly) made this bomb. He died last summer in a motorcycle accident.

I know the former owner of my house also. I only met the wife once, but her relatives own the houses on each side of mine, plus two more houses around the corner. The husband runs a landscaping business and we run into him often. We even hired him to take care of the backyard lawn for one of our rental properties in a different neighborhood.

I bought the house 8 years ago (can't believe it's been that long!) and it was vacant for about one year before that. Before we moved in, he was still occasionally swinging by the house to pick up his mail, lol.

Thankfully, as far as I know, he never dug through our mailbox after we moved in. He would sometimes hit us up asking if we had any mail for him, smh. I was nice about it, but nipped that in the bud. I told him we would hold any mail that looked important for a brief period of time, but would throw away whatever looked like junk mail. I also warned him we weren't going to do that forever, so it was time to start contacting whatever senders were still sending his mail to the wrong address.

He asked us for a few more months, which was fine. But he must have heeded my words because by the time he stopped asking, we were almost only getting junk mail. And we still get junk mail for him all these years later.

I bet I get the exact same junk mail pieces at multiple addresses I have lived in, during my lifetime, lol.

She was actually kinda weird and creepy. LOL I'm glad she never came back.

Only their lawyer was at closing and I'm actually not positive who was even living there before us. It was vacant when we looked at it. The old lady with the "scientist" son were the people who originally built the house (I think) and then it sold a couple years before we bought it, but the owners rented it out. I don't know if they rented it to these same people or what. But I've only ever heard two last names - the original people and the landlord owners, never a third name.

At our old rental house, we used to get a ton of mail for the previous owner's husband. He's been dead over 30 years. He'd be like 120 if he were alive. You'd think eventually people would fall off these lists.

One time I used her 20% coupon at ulta. I’m a member myself but they cant seem to get MY mailings right. I can’t wait to use her Victoria’s Secret coupons when that time comes around...
