No daily post, lol?

It was already shoring up to be a stressful day and then I received an e-mail from my realtor that the listing agent is looking for the earnest money and my pre-qualification letters.  The earnest money is fine, I was expecting that and had planned to drop it off on Friday, but ran out of time.  So I'll drop it off tonight.  But the pre-qual. letter?  F**k!  This is the first I've heard they even want one.  The irony is, I'm already working on getting my loan packet together, which is what is actually important.  And now I have to interrupt that by trying to get in touch with my lender on my lunch hour and seeing if/when they can produce that letter.  Commercial (buying under my LLC) real estate loans are different so it's not like I have a prequal. letter just hanging around, like a typical homebuyer does.  At any rate, I know it's minutia, but I'm irritated to have something else piled on me today.

Other than that, my weekend was pretty good.  Didn't do much.  There was a lot of activity all over the area with various St. Paddy day parades, so was trying to fly low.  We did go shopping for a new sofa, but didn't like what Rooms To Go had.  I really want a couch where the middle seat folds down and has a console with plug-ins.  But those only come in high-end recliner sofas with leather (prefer fabric) and a bunch of bells and whistles I don't care about.

Edited to add:  This at least made me chuckle!  I got an auto e-mail from realtor.com.  A high-end condo for sale for $32K.  Even if it was gutted, that would be an insanely low price.  I click on the link.  Apparently the listing agent initially missed a zero ;).  It was now listed at $320K.  That makes a lot more sense, lol.

Ditto with me.  I sat at home Sat night and all of Sunday and watched everyone on facebook have fun.   Shopping for a couch is SO damn hard.  Everyone we liked was way out of our budget!

Speaking of decor, I bought a new comforter set and curtains to change up our master and Im in LOVE!  I went from black/purple to grey/purple (oops I mean black) and the comforter is soooooo soft.  Probably contributing to my not getting out of bed sunday.  I love my room now!

Before and after.  Don’t mind the clothing rack - er - ab cruncher. I have no room to put it BUT the bedroom. I should get on using that again....

  • Good Afternoon

I'm trying to get into the groove after spring break. I didn't do much of anything. I'm so boring lately.

Friday was M2's 8th bday. We spent all day at the Children's museum having a blast.  Not one single melt down all day (not even from me)!! We had a nice dinner at an old Carnegie library converted to a restaurant (duh).  Then we hit the pool for cupcakes, cookies, and fun.  A few teammates were in already so it was extra fun.

Sunday am got a call at 9:20 asking if 6let could play the 9:15 game because they were short a player.  He made it there with 15 minutes to spare in the first half. Apparently one player got a yellow card and his parents went ape shit.  The dad got thrown out and the mom came close too. (I was not there because it was SNOWING)

Was the outdoor sports part open? I know it is opening very soon because of spring break but wasn't sure if it was already open or not.

Were you in Carmel? That's the only library restaurant I can think of though there could be others
  • I was going to start one but I couldn't think of a title and then I got sidetracked.

Boring weekend here. Getting so lazy I feel bad but baby B doesn't seem to mind so it isn't a big deal we're not constantly doing stuff. Will be better once the weather has turned for the better. Sunday was so weird with big snow flakes in the morning making the trees look pretty and then an hour later it was all melted. I much prefer my snow melted!

Family is on the mend...we had two more flu diagnoses on Saturday (including H).  I went to mass solo Sunday morning and that Tamiflu is the best- everyone was well enough to enjoy corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and soda bread last night.  Looking forward to St. Joseph’s Day tomorrow and everyone being healthy.

@6fsn that sounds like a fun birthday for M2!
  • Had a great weekend! Friday we stayed home and relaxed.

Saturday we had our TSA pre-check interviews, which were hilariously fast. They pretty much just looked at our passports, took our fingerprints and took our pictures. That was it. After that, I went to buy a new vacuum to combat all the dog hair. It's arriving today.
Saturday night we went out to dinner with friends.

Sunday I got up early and took 2 classes at the gym (Bodypump and Spin). Ran errands, cleaned the house, and got a massage.

Why can I not remember who went to NYC this weekend? I completely forgot that Hudson Yards was opening!!
  • Weekend was good, but as always went by too fast. Friday we stayed in and started the Ken Burns Vietnam documentary. Saturday was my nieces birthday and we had so much fun. We had a dance party, are so much cake, and she finally said my name!

Sunday I ran 18 miles then sat on the couch. Thankfully I took today off.
  • @6 that stinks you missed it by a day! We haven't been yet but I bought a membership with Christmas money that I'm going to activate once spring break is over. I think B will be a bit too little for the outside stuff but I'm sure he'll love the new paw patrol and I've heard there's a dinosaur exhibit too which I know he'll like.

I'm WFH today - I was supposed to go in, but I day drank a bit too hard yesterday and slept in.  Oops.

Friday night, I went with H to a Mixer and a Fundraiser, and then we went out to eat after.  Saturday, I had to work a birthday party for someone who is super involved in the party.  The ole' invisibility cloak (catering uniform) worked like a charm.  The couple who hosted the fundraiser the night before were the only people (of the 10 attendees I knew) who immediately recognized me.  Another gal messaged me the next day, but that was it!  It's amazing in a very sad and real way how little attention we pay to the people who service us.

I'm so bad and skipping the gym today too - but Hubs will actually be home today too and he's staying in a hotel tomorrow so I'm okay with taking from my health and giving to my marriage;).  Right now, he's reading to third graders for March is Reading Month - which is probably his favorite part of the new job - so he'll be in a great mood tonight despite dieting.

ETA - @CharmedPam that looks great!  Especially since the first pic makes it look like you have a peeping Tom.

@climbingwife - did you move out of the City?
  • @mrsmitten I'm about 30 miles outside of the city, in suburbia land.

I know!! I just saw that!  The only thing out there is a patio table!
and now, apparently, a peeping Tom.

dieting does make me a grouch too!

  • I keep confusing mrsmitten and mrsconn when reading these and then I'll see a detail that doesn't make sense and have to go figure out who it actually is
  • I do not want to admit it's Monday.  Last night, my brain was like, "Hey you only have 2 weeks until a 3 day weekend!"  Then the snarky part was like, "Hey dummy...it's March, not May."

I didn't have a very good weekend.  My father fell again Friday night and it's been a rollercoaster.  They operated today, a partial hip replacement.  He seems to have done well with the surgery, but we don't know discharge plans yet.  I"m very worried about them sending him home, b/c my mother cannot take care of him in the way he  might need.  She was in a very bad car accident years ago and walks with a cane.  Any sort of transfer, assisted or not, is completely out of her abilities.  I'm going to try and make sure I'm there for any discussion of the discharge plans to advocate for him going to a rehab hospital.

Other than that, I can't seem to keep my eyes open and just want to go home to go to sleep.

LOL I do that with posts too (not my own, that'd be weird).

    Hi all!

Saturday morning was bingo at the nursing home. Then I did some grocery shopping, including corned beef and Kilkenny cheddar for DW and Irish soda bread and ingredients for a vegan stew for me. Then I met with my sponsor.

Yesterday we went to my mom and dad’s. Niece and nephew were there. My brother was also there, but he slept the whole time (he had a procedure last week and is on pain meds).

It’s pretty calm here for a Monday. I’ve been able to get caught up somewhat. Tonight is my peace group board meeting.

We might be adopting another dog. LSS, one of my friends moved out of her living situation and in with her BF and couldn’t take the dog because her BF’s dog and that dog don’t get along. My friend’s former roommate is being evicted and the landlady is selling the house and trying to find a new home for the dog. She’s a senior dog and part Great Pyrenees, so she’s a big girl. The landlady is bringing her over next Sunday, so we’re going to see if she and Mutt get along. Supposedly she gets along well with cats.

ETA: Just saw about your dad, @VarunaTT — sending positive vibes!
  • @VarunaTT I'm sorry about your dad. I hope he's OK.
  • I'm so sorry about your dad, @VarunaTT. Hugs for you.

Weekend was normal - Saturday was warm-ish, so we got some fresh air! Yesterday was back to freezing so I did a whole boatload of laundry and we ran a bunch of errands. H bought Babypants a glazed donut with green frosting & chocolate sprinkles for St. Paddy's. Babypants took the tiniest nibble, spit out the chocolate sprinkles, and got very upset. Poor thing. H & I saved her from the rest of the terrifying donut.

We had pork loin stuffed with apples & shallots and roasted baked potatoes for dinner last night because neither of us can stand the "traditional" New England boiled dinner. H is Irish and he can't stand it.

Back to work today. I am now down to just two deadlines. Hooray!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad!  I hope he has a smooth recovery.  It does sound like a rehab hospital would be the best option for healing.

Oh V, I’m sorry to hear about your dad
  • Fun!  Around Oct. of last year, my H and I were in the driveway of one of our rental properties when the Google van drove by.

My loan application requires me to list details about all my properties.  I was just pulling up that house on realtor.com because, even for houses that aren't for sale, it is a handy place to get rough comps and property tax amounts.

On realtor.com, they had a pic of the front of the house.  It was obviously the one that Google took because there were me and my H!  Standing in the driveway, lol.

  • I’m so sorry about your dad @VarunaTT

Weekend was good. Saturday we went out with FSIL and her FI, and we found a new bar/restaurant nearby that’s pretty fun at night. Yesterday we woke up and binge watched the last season of GOT to prepare for the new season. Then we went back to the same bar for dinner. Although I’ve heard good things about their food it was pretty lackluster, so we’ll be going back for their drinks and nightlife, but probably not for food. Overall a successful St. Patrick’s weekend.

  • @VarunaTT I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, poor guy.

Does your dad have Medicare?  MIL just had her knee replaced and Medicare provided at home nursing services.  She didn't need them around the clock like your dad may, but it may be a start.  If his insurance is being buttheads ask to be assigned a case worker - that's how we got my mom into a rehab after her accident a few years ago.

He does and he has a secondary pickup insurance.  His insurance is retired federal employee, so if that was still primary, I wouldn't be so worried.  But there have been some changes to Medicare that has limited doctor decisions on aftercare that we've run into recently because fuck the Trump administration to hell and back.

I'm not so much worried about around the clock care as I am about a continuing fall risk and maybe needed transfers into/out of chairs, couches, and restrooms for the first few weeks while he's gaining strength back (the surgeons said that was a 6 week journey).  Mom has promised to get a social worker involved and I am going to do my best to make sure I'm there when discharge plans are discussed.

I'm trying my best not to freak out.  The surgery was terrifying for me, b/c I've had a client who stroked on the table and ended up passing away from complications from a hip replacement.  So, that burden is off.  I'm just scared b/c I knew after the first fall a month or so agao, it was a sign of a downward spiral.  And he is depressed.  And he's had diabetes type II for 50+ years.  And he's a non compliant, difficult, asshole of a patient.  And he made some BAD decisions this time (basically he left around 8 am in an ambulance to the hospital on Saturday and didn't wake anyone up to tell them.  So, Mom woke up to an empty house and I'm still not sure I don't have her talked down from beating him half to death with her cane).  But Mom needs me to hold it together, so that's where we are right now.

    ETA:  And thank you everyone.
  • I'm sorry about Dad V, @VarunaTT:(  All the *vibes*.

Weekend was pretty good.  Friday, we ran to the liquor store and then had homemade pizza for dinner.  DH and I had a productive discussion about some stuff we weren't seeing eye to eye on.

Saturday, we slept in...gloriously.  I went to the store.  DH cleaned house.  FIL showed up early afternoon and hung out for the night.  I ended up going ugly slightly early and was in bed by just after 10.  LOL, whoops.

Sunday, we woke up and did breakfast.  We went downtown for a little bit to see the green canal and wander around.  It was pretty dead, which I'm sure the revelers were out in full force Saturday night.  We went out to eat for an early dinner and then came home to do stuff around the house.  We watched a little TV and then early to bed.  I didn't want to get up this morning because my bed was so cozy.

This week is getting DefConn ready to go to FL with my parents.  Looking forward to next week and having some kid-free fun.  We also got DefConn's bday party scheduled for early next month.  We're doing laser tag and paid for the party package so we don't have to do anything at the house.  Easy-peasy and worth the $$.

We have a Google picture of my grandma's house, with my parents and brother outside.
