Early Tues!

The kids are playing happily so thought I'd sneak in some screen time  :D

I didn't get that too-good-to-be-true position I interviewed for last week but one of the interviewers emailed me over the weekend and asked me to come interview for an opening in his department today.  So prepping for that...the school is literally a 7 minute drive from my house. The position is unlisted so I have no idea about salary, benefits...the commute alone doesn't make me crazy excited which is good, keeps my nerves in check.
Hope everyone else has a good day!

    Good luck @ei34!! Tats a good sign that even though you didn’t get the other position they were impressed & brought you back!

    Not much here; didn’t sleep well at all last night so I’m dragging already. I did manage to haul myself to the gym for a run but I think it did more harm than good because I just want to lay down and take a nap.

    Exciting! Good luck today!

    I was on the phone with my mom for a good 15 minutes last night explaining to her how Airbnb works. And then she has to relay this to my uncle, who called to ask her about it since they know I've used it before. Meanwhile, they were also asking about the place we rented in Florence, as if I have a direct connection to the place. We stayed there FIVE years ago.

    Also, having to explain anything technology related to my 69 year old parents makes me want to set myself on fire.

    Good luck with the interview! That's awesome they contacted you out of the blue for it. You must have really impressed them.

    Today is a busy day life-wise. Hoping to leave early to go shop the kid consignment sale with my presale pass that starts at 3pm. Usually I don't bother going until 1/2 price day but I want to this time. It's police national night out so thinking of going to a local event if the rain holds off and then I have book club. Going to be a busy afternoon/evening.

    Back to work after a busy week!

    I took BabyKitten to the park every morning and she got to be free range.
    She loved it!
    Since she's learning to walk, I opted to not put shoes on her. Being on the uneven ground of the sand is good for her. If I had Robeez that fit her, I'd prob do those. That way her foot could move with the ground.

    Our park is pretty good, minus under the structure where there is cat poop. We avoid that lol Also she doesn't eat sand, so win ;)

    Weekend was busy. Friends of ours came down and it just made our house insanely busy. BabyKitten, plus our friend's 3 kids {one of with is 5 weeks older than Kitty!} They were very good and he was better with BabyKitten vs with his older sisters. They held hands a few times, and he tried to show her things.
    Poor beeb was put off with people touching her things { #onlychildproblems } but she did great. Sleep not so much. She's prepping to cut 2 molars now, and her eye teeth were moving so she didn't sleep great :(

    I wish I got photos, but 4 kids, 4 adults - still chaos lol!

    This week M is off with BabyKitten and they're at the museum today. She's already waved and said "hi" to a few wax sculptures  {they're at Neanderthal exhibit}

    Side note: i did mention to BabyKitten how proud I am of her and how well she was this weekend :) Different is hard but can be helpful.

    I called in sick to work yesterday.  I've got the full congestion, coughing, and achy lungs of an allergy/summer cold and I'm tired of it.  But I'm trying really hard to keep it from developing into bronchitis, so I'm trying to take it easy.  I ended up sleeping nearly all day yesterday.  I also broke my danged phone screen in the corner.  It's the first time I've ever done that and I'm annoyed.  So far, it hasn't interfered with use, but I'm worried about it.

    We did get the storage unit 99.9% cleaned out.  We left the box springs/frame in there, just because.  I suspect my buddy might want it (I explained the nice air mattress on a box spring extra bed and he was like, Oh that's smart), so for right now it's just living there.  It ended up being a mostly all day project, which sucked, but hey, it's finished.  My apartment looks like a disaster, but it's getting there.

    Other than that, at work, still hate Tuesdays, and just needing a vacation that I'm probably never going to be able to build time for.

    Yes! Good luck @ei34!  Let us know how it goes.  What a sweetie to do that @mrsconn23

    Last night I made a paleo version of mu shu chicken (it was ground turkey) and it was SO good!   Can’t wait for leftovers tonight.  I made a lot.  SSDD other than that.  Ugh, I came in work late(r) because they’re tearing up the roads near my house.  Be done with it already!

    @ei34, good luck with this next interview!

    @kvruns, I hope you find good deals at the consignment store special sale.

    @MissKittyDanger, cute BabyKitten stories!

    @VarunaTT, Hope you start feeling better.

    OMG, 30-minute banking hell, smh.  Transferred 5x to get to the correct department.  At least I finally found it.  Only to not have them be able to answer my question (sigh).  Whatever.  I am just completely defeated and had to take my best guess.  I'm applying for a Wells Fargo home improvement loan through the HVAC company I am using and had a question about the application.  I got approved, even with my having to guess what they wanted.  Though for not nearly enough, but HVAC company's owner had said that usually happens.  And, if you call them and tell them how much the contract is for, they'll typically approve you for it.  At least now I know what number to call them at, to do that.

    Other than that, a good day.  Work at my job is almost becoming manageable, lol.  My problem tenant at least paid half her August rent today.  Still not great, but at least it is a big improvement from last month.

    --------------------------------

    I FINALLY got my stupid and unbelievably frustrating story I was having with the State of Louisiana Revenue Department (LRD) worked out yesterday.  I was almost ready to do cartwheels in my living room, lol.

    In a nutshell, they started sending me statements a few months ago that I owed them $8K in "estimated" sales tax.  They were going all the way back to 5 years ago when I opened my LLC, smh.  I kid you not, there were days when I'd come home to a stack of letters from them.  With each letter being a statement for a separate month over the last 5 years.  And threats of levies on my business account.

    Except, as you all know, I'm in the residential rental business.  I don't need to collect sales tax and I've never collected sales tax.  The LRD is impossible to reach by phone.  I've also sent them e-mails.  I've sent them certified letters.  All completely ignored.  While my avalanche of mail with bogus statements keeps coming.  I finally got a letter in the mail yesterday...in regards to a certified letter I sent TWO months ago...that my business had accidentally been set up as a "sales" business.  So she changed the "type" of business I have.  Going back to its inception.  And it will now reflect in their system that they do NOT need to be receiving sales tax filings from me previously.  Or now.  Or in the future.

    Oh!  And before that letter.  I had been trying to figure out how to file all those monthly sales tax filings as "zero".  But they'd made that impossible also.

    I don't think I would mention it in the thank you email and just wait until you get contacted again.

    WW poll- in my follow up "nice meeting with you" email, do I mention that? Or no? Leaning towards not mentioning ...
    I would not mention it in the thank-you e-mail.  It might be a moot point if they call to schedule a 2nd interview this week or the week after next.  Best left to when they call and schedule a second interview, if there even ends up being a conflict.  We won't even speak of the other moot point it could be ;).

    Update on my Wells Fargo credit application.  I called like the HVAC company recommended and got approved for about half the amount I need for all the HVAC work.  Woo hoo!  I think the HVAC company requires payment in full for the rest I have to pay, within 30 days after the work has been completed.  As opposed to "due on receipt".  Which would be great, because I will get all the money back for this work from my rehab draw money included in the mortgage and could pay them from that.   If not, I could temporarily put it on credit cards, but would prefer to not do that.

    The other bonus of the WF credit line is it is interest-free for 12 months.  And I don't have to use my draw money to pay it off.  I can allocate some of that money to paying down other 'cc debt that has crept up and having more cash-on-hand.

    @VarunaTT hopefully it's just allergies and not a cold :( that way it will ease up sooner!

    @ei34 I wouldn't mention it until they want to schedule you back

    @charlotte989875 kudos to doing anything with lack of sleep!

    @climbingwife trying to explain things LIKE Air BNB to older gens isn't easy :\

    @mrsconn23 idk if your area has had this issue, but beginning of the year and/or winter months, I would be all about that app! Not my area, but another part of the city had a bus get so lost they were 3hrs late coming home :O

    Guess who is dealing with a meltdown at home because someone is TIRED .... M does not know how to deal with it {tbh me neither but I've done it more than him solo}

    @ei34 glad the interview went well! Agree with PPs about leaving your vacation plans out of the thank you email.

    @short+sassy that's awesome the LRD finally got your sales tax issue resolved! What a stressful PIA that must have been!

    The air on my team is even more awkward as we approach my boss' last day. I feel really bad for her.

    They get the concept. But they wanted me to explain how the website works. Instead of just...going to the website and figuring it out.

    Plus a few trees died for their insanity, lol.  I just did the math.  There are about 60 months over 5 years time.  And I probably got a "notice" about each, individual month about 3x.  I also got "totaled" statements of what I "owed"...always for different, random timeframes, lol...probably 2-3 times a week.  Yeah.  Definitely over 200 letters/statements sent to me over less than 6 months.  Had never received one in the previous 4.5 years.

    But not one phone call from them.  Which probably would have solved the issue in less than 15 minutes.  Government in action.  Whatcha gonna do.

    Last night my MIL wanted to know how she needed to respond to an Evite and if opening the Evite (that she knew to expect) was going to be a problem and if she needed to "sign up for Evite" to see the invitation.

    It reminds me of Everybody Loves Raymond when Marie asks, "What's a DVD player??  Is it for pornography??"
