Friday!!

I'm so glad it's the end of this week.  It's been a long one.  I'm trying really hard to get my PTO built back up by not taking any days out of the office until June.

K is back home!!!  So glad they're back.  We went through all of their coral, seashells, magnets, and pennies (they collect those pennies that get flattened and imprinted), while having a peanut butter infused beer at our favorite local brewery (disappointed in this fusion, brewery is owned by 2 sisters who are also lesbians, so it's super queer friendly, 2 blocks from our loft, and great beer and atmosphere).  They got me beautiful earrings and an apron that I love (I collect aprons).  I also told them that their birthday gift is underway (a friend who does tie dye is doing a custom request on a sports bra and yoga pants) and that while I realized I would love a fancy gourmet dinner for my birthday dinner, K loves junk food.  So, I'm making fancy yummy nachos, tacos, and I'm trying to find a dupe for the rolled chicken tacos that Taco Bell had and stopped making (to our dismay).  Also, they seem to have planned to go back to work today?  I feel like that's weird, but their client's family has called, so they're going.

Not too many plans for this weekend.  K will be back on their regular work schedule, which sucks, but at least they're home!!!  It's freezing rain outside right now, so we might be hunkered in from the weather.  Others?

ETA:  @moira_rose_stan where are you, b/c I need to discuss Schitt's Creek.  This last episode was one of the best of the series!

So glad to hear that K is home safely! I find peanut butter beers to be hit or miss - either they're fantastic or abysmal. And your dinner for them sounds amazing. Let us know if you find a good dupe for the rolled chicken tacos.

So happy it's Friday. I've slept like crap all week so I'm looking forward to being able to sleep in and nap tomorrow if I want. H and I are going to run errands tomorrow to get the very last things we need for the nursery and also hit up a BJs that's closing - apparently for their closeout sale anyone can shop there even without a membership. So we're going to see if there's anything good left.

Sunday will be a laying around day - I'm taking every chance I have left to do nothing and snuggle my dogs until baby arrives. H has Monday off and already has plans to clean the house that day so no guilt if we don't get it done over the weekend.

    It's FRIDAY!

I had a quick day trip yesterday for work that took me to northern NJ and should have purchased a lottery ticket because I left the meeting at 2:15 and was in my driveway in eastern CT at 5:00 and this was after a quick pit stop in town to put a $100 deposit down on DH's birthday location.   For those who know NY, NJ, and CT traffic, this was AMAZING.  I planned in my head that I could be returning close to 7.

DH is going to a friends' home for 8-bit game night.   I'm home w/ the kids and I need to come up with something fun.   I'm thinking I may take them out to dinner for pizza.   There's a place not far away that has great pizza and model trains that run through the building.

Saturday we head to the casino mid day for the Hartford Boat Show.   Now I get to walk around and look at ways that DH and I can spend a lot of money for summer fun.   Our current boat is 18', holds 5 adults and has no cabin.   In the next couple years we are looking to upgrade by a couple feet to one that may have at least a small cuddy and a toilet so Chiquita and I aren't forced to perfect aim off the side or only wear a bathing suit.

I may head to some of the shops to pick up Carlo's cookies and some Lush products to give as Christmas gifts because we celebrate that with my family Sunday.

There's a forecast for some snow tomorrow and I think it's probably not going to do much.   I need to take our tree down.   It's hanging down and I'm going to have to change it's name from Lenny Spruce to Eeyore.

Cold a.f today. Got BabyKitten bundled into her one-piece snowsuit, which is last time as it was a tight fit. She rarely wears it, and I only put her in it because I was not willing to string mittens through her jacket today and it's too cold for her not to wear mittens even though she's only out for total of 5mins.

This weekend is BabyKitten and M swimming, finishing her closet, and starting the basement clean up. It'll be a basic clean this weekend so we can fix dryer but it'll be much more in depth soon.
I've already told M I'll be taking a nap at some point this weekend too because I'm tired and have been for the past few days.
Yesterday - before my exam - I had an anxiety surge. Unfortunately if it doesn't burn off and just plummets, I just get exhausted. It doesn't happen often - which is good - but I was dragging rest of the day yesterday and tried to go to bed early.
BabyKitten had a brief issue of sleep, luckily it didn't last too long but it just felt so long because I'm tired.

@VarunaTT glad K is home safe :) I'm curious about that beer and I'm not a beer drinker lol

@cupcait927 did you do a theme for the nursery? Yes to all the snuggles and naps now!!

@banana468 do you guys live by the water? I keep forgetting - despite you mentioning having a boat. Btw peeing off a boat is hard a.f for females so yes, +1 for toilet!

We live in a town that is on the water.   Our home is about 5 miles from the shore itself and we keep a boat moored locally from April - early November.

@cupcait927 .  This was just so subtle that if I hadn't had candy with it (they were giving it with the beer), I'm really not sure I would've tasted the peanut butter at all.  K said they could taste it and that it was mostly in the aftertaste.

Funny story.  So, the brewery is lesbian heavy, which is awesome.  Lesbian bars have all but disappeared throughout the country and our last one closed in the late 90s.  There was an older lesbian who was sitting at the bar when I went to tab out.  I told the bartender I needed to tab out. She says, "I always thought when people said they needed to tap out, they should have to do the wrestling move and tap the counter or something."  I said, "That's funny; I did say taB out though."  She looks at me for a second and then cracks up, "I wonder if I've misunderstood this my entire damn life and I'm in my 50s."

@MissKittyDanger, how did you do on your exam?  Good luck on the results!

I didn't go into work yesterday.  Feeling too crappy.  I'm better today, but haven't gotten much sleep the last two nights, and that is NOT helping me feel better, lol.  But at least I only work half days on Fri.  I have a couple quick errands to run and then I'm going home to take a nap, lol.

My weekend is fairly mellow.  We have a number of showings to do mid-day on Sat.  My H and I had some showings last night. 5 of them.  2 of them contacted me to postpone to Sat.  The other 3 didn't show up.  Argh!  And that's why we schedule a bunch of people to all come over the same 30ish minutes.  So we at least weren't waiting around for long.  We at least got half our punch-list done.
We stopped at Home Depot on the way there and found a stand-up freezer on clearance.  We'd been planning to buy one at some point in the future but, If it is still there on Sat., we are going to snatch it up.  Crossing fingers!  That would also mean I need to clear out a decent section of a room we use for storage to make a spot for it, lol.

@cupcait927 we did a relatively neutral room too :) light grey and peel-and-stick star decals. I have some glow ones for when she's older. But cute idea!

@short+sassy  mixed feelings. Like I think I passed but I'm not confident it wasn't a "just barely passed" kinda deal. It took me 40mins, including reviewing a few q's. Some I had flagged to review because answer could be more than one. It was 75 multiple choice questions.

I'm in a 2 week wait - which is awful when waiting on something, and mostly common on when trying for a baby lmao! So I joked with M that I'm on a new TWW and not even wanting a baby lmao

I’m not a beer drinker and honestly most fruity or nutty beers don’t have the taste for me.

We’re getting a snow storm around the time my plane is going to take off.  I need all the vibes that it at least holds till after it takes off.  Chicago is not the greatest at predicting weather - but they are good at canceling flights.

And now I want pizza @banana468

I'm here.  It's Friday.  I'd cleared my whole weekend because mom was a question mark on going to MI, so I had to be ready to go hang with her.  So I'm not sure what's in store. I may end up working some OT since it's being offered. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and Sunday is going to be cold AF.

I'm in a mood today for several reasons.  I'm hoping I can shake it.  It's grey and cold, so it's not looking likely.  Blerg. At least I can sleep in tomorrow.

@VarunaTT, I've actually never heard the phrase "tab out", though I'd know what someone meant, if I did.  I have heard and used the phrase myself of "opening a tab".  But then the phrase I've always heard and used is "close my tab" or "close my check".

I've also never heard of or seen peanut butter beer.  Apparently I need to get out more, lol.

Glad to hear K got back home safely, plus now you don't have to miss them anymore!  I hope they had a great time in HI.

@VarunaTT I’m glad K made it home safe! I’ve never heard of the phrase “tab out” and I even used to work in a restaurant/bar. Maybe it’s regional. Here we say “close out the tab.”

    Feel better @short+sassy!

The next three days feel like a chore with all of the socializing and driving I’ll have to do. I don’t know what was up with people this morning, but everyone was driving like they’d never been in a car before. Halsey has tickets going on sale today and I’m trying to decide my limit on spending for them. I’m sure they’re going to be exponentially more expensive than the last time we saw her. Otherwise SSDD.

Huh, I never thought "tab out" would be so uncommon.  I know I picked it up from serving, b/c at the end of the night, we'd "tab out" all of our cash/credit card receipts. I know my friends say it too.  I'm in the middle of the Midwest.  This is really interesting, I love it when you discover regional differences in language.

I grew up in So. CA, which I'm pretty sure is where @levioosa is also.

But, when I first moved to NOLA, a language difference I kept running into was I'd use the word "freeway"...quite frankly, I still do, lol...and people would ask if I meant "interstate".

Also glad it’s finally the end of the week. A coworkers car got hit in our ramp last night when we were leaving so I drove him now. Which was WAY out of the way, but I felt bad and he’s had a terrible week. He was sick last week and his baby was sick this week. Guy can’t catch a break.

I have no plans this weekend and I couldn’t be happier. We have early release today so I’m out at 3 and I plan to do all the napping! H is going to make sausage all day tomorrow so I’m going to try and get to the gym but also nap. And puppy snuggles. Sounds like me and @cupcait927 have a similar weekend planned!

@banana468 I also use highway.  If I do say interstate, it's a specifically named and I usually shorten it to the I-[number of interstate].  We do have a highway here that has "freeway" in the name.  TBH, I think most people just shorten to the name and leave off freeway totally.  Small city.

    Yes - me too!

I had to chuckle - I had one of the more humorous and pointless arguments with Chiquito (a 5 yo) about 2 months ago when I said, "We're on I-95.  Count 3 exits and we're home."

He YELLED at me that "THE NAME OF THIS ROAD IS HIGHWAY!!"

He's going to make a great bitter old man.

Lol, pretty much.  Though now I'm going to be technical.  Freeway and interstate are interchangeable/synonym words.  But highway is not...though I admit, I will also use it interchangeably to mean a freeway sometimes.

A highway is considered smaller than a freeway.  No more than four lanes in each direction, and usually more like 2 lanes.  They also often don't have a divider or barrier in the middle.  It's also not unusual for highways to have stoplights on them for at least some sections of them.  Freeways usually have at least 4 lanes in each direction, usually a divider/barrier, and have ramps.  But no stoplight or other traffic signals.

I've always assumed the difference in these words is, in CA, there are lots of interstates.  But only one went through my hometown, so we just referred to it as the freeway.  However, if you started talking about an area that has more than one, then you would...just like you described...call it I-(#).  Like, "How do you usually get to Irvine?  The I-5 or the I-405?"

However, in NOLA and the suburbs, there is only one.  The I-10.  So people refer to it as "the interstate".  Because you can't possibly mean a different one, lol.

It got really cold here today too.  It actually started yesterday with the wind and it has continued to howl.

I got a good night sleep last night, finally, because I ended up moving to our extra bedroom.  H has been sick, so his snoring was so loud, it was waking me up.  I kept telling him to roll over, but he would always go back to his back where the snoring was loudest.  I mentioned it to him last night at dinner and he was surprised.  I said, I have been waking him up 3 times each night to get him to move - he hasn't even remembered.  So last night I moved to the extra bedroom at first wake with Cassie, who follows my every move.  It was a lovely night after that!  This bedroom is so warm too, since its the first heater vent in the upstairs - so it gets the hottest air.

We will be going to Lowes tonight after dinner.  Tomorrow we will be getting a coating of snow and other yuck.  We will go to church, grab a quick dinner and then H will drop me off at one of the wood work shops I've been going to.  I will be making a sign for my kitchen!  My sister is coming too (as are 2 friends), so she will drive me home.

Sunday, H wants to get the ceiling fan installed in DD's room.

I grew up in NC. We had highways like @short+sassy described, a freeway that was a leg off the interstate leading into downtown and the I-##. I still keep to this living in Indiana. I have never heard anyone here say freeway but do hear highway and interstate.
