Wedding Woes

Today is TUESDAY, right?

I'm so lost on what day it is already

Re: Today is TUESDAY, right?

  • Woohoo yea for baby boy @charlotte989875 were you hoping for boy or girl?
  • I think so? I keep thinking I have another day before my new person starts on Wednesday. Turns out I don’t.

I found out the baby’s gender today! We’re having a boy!  I’m going to try and leave early to stop and get blue cupcakes for H. I didn’t do anything cute when we found out we were pregnant so I thought this would be nice.

Yay!  Was your H with your or will this be a surprise?

I loved the face on DH when he found out Chiquito was a boy and the "YES!!" I heard from him with the ultrasound tech.

No we did the genetic testing so I just got an email. So I want to surprise him a bit!

yea when DH found out he started texting people right away and the ultrasound wasn't even over yet. I was like slow your roll dude. The tech said that's why they do gender last because otherwise people tune out once they know
  • @charlotte989875 oh exciting! :)
When we found out BabyKitten was a girl, we were so excited. I was hoping for a girl because I don't feel I have the mental capacity to be a boy-mom. M was excited because first female born in his dad's side in 3 generations :)
    {this was before we found out his cousin is transgender for the record}
  • I'd been thinking for half the morning it was Wednesday and could have written your headline, lol.  And then had to think, "Wait.  No.  That's not right.  It's Tuesday.  Right?  Yeah, it is.  Hmmm.  Still feels like Wed, though."

I had a good night, last night.  I picked up a gift from Harrah's that is a faux fur blanket.  So soft and snuggly!  Perfect timing because we dropped from being in the high 70s over the weekend to the mid 40s.  I also had $20 in slot play.  So I played that really quick before heading back home because we had dinner plans with a friend.  And actually hit 4 Aces on a quarter machine and then 3 hands later I hit another four-of-a-kind with 10s!!!  I can't even tell you how incredibly unusual and crazy lucky all of that was.  But I walked out having won over 200 bucks.

Then we went out for dinner with our friend about an hour later.  He's also my next-door tenant who usually rents the other side out with Airbnb.  So, it's not unusual to see him a few times a month in passing.  But he's a super busy guy and we don't get to catch up over dinner nearly often enough.  We all had such a fun time and the food was delicious also!

He's an attorney, by trade.  He owns his own one-man law firm and does that full-time during the day.  He's also a full-time student, getting his masters in Urban Planning.  But, on top of all that, he has all of these hobbies and committees that he's actively involved in.  One of them is singing.  He was really excited last night because he is going to be doing a show at the Joy Theater (local theater) in June!  Musicians, back-up singers and dancers, costume changes...performing 15 songs that he personally has written.  The whole nine yards and then some.

I joked to him, "What is your secret?  How have you altered time so that you have more than the 24 hours in the day than the rest of us do?"  Lol.

  • Charlotte, that's so exciting!!

SSDD here. It's cold. Back on a diet since I'm going to Mexico at the end of February, and I'm already over it.

    Right?!

Also, this isn't just a "boy or girl" US.  While BIL and SIL knew that they were having a girl last year it was in the US that they found out about their daughter's syndrome and initial diagnosis.

Aw! Congrats!! Boys are so fun!  I'm biased since we are a family of boys on both sides except for my two nieces by SIL.  ;)

Mom is hanging in there.  The hospital sucks, but ICU is a new level of suck.  I'm probably not going back tonight as I'm trying to limit my time at the hospital due to flu season.

I'm tired.  So, so tired. And the sadness is creeping in again, which I know is normal.  But it's frustrating.  My bday is later this week and I don't even care. I do need to finish DH's bday gifts and get them wrapped.  His bday is this week too.  DH's and my meet-a-versary is this week as well. 16 years...damn.

At least I took a 4 day weekend, so I just have to get through work tomorrow. DH is off work Friday with me.
  • Congrats @charlotte989875!

    *hugs* @mrsc@mrsconn23

SDDD for me. I was able to clock in early today so I’ll get like 30 min of overtime. The plan is to head to the gym after work. I’ve also been walking for 30 minutes every day at lunch and I think that’s helping too. Last night I made chana masala for the first time. I don’t know how it adds up to traditional chana masala, but it tastes decent so I’ll take it as a win.

  • I've been contacting people on estimates for reupholstering and having slip covers made. I'm also trying to find someone to give us an estimate for redoing our master bath. I emailed our builder but he hasn't answered. I think I'll probably reach out to the guy who has done our floors and tile in the bathrooms. I don't know if he can do the whole remodel but maybe he can give me some leads. I'm going to see Little Women this afternoon. I was hoping some friends would join me but they can't . I 'll just go alone. It is my favorite book from childhood. I read everything by Louisa May Alcott and about her too when I was a kid. I've heard really good things about the movie. Please keep DD in thoughts and prayers or send good vibes as she's having some medical tests done over the next week or so.

Congratulations @charlotte989875! So happy things are well with the little boy baby :)
@mrsconn23 hang in there. I know this is such a difficult thing to go through. Take care of yourself. I know how hard it is not to fall into the deep abyss of depression when going through a parent's illness.
  • Congrats @charlotte989875!
@mrsconn23, i’m so sorry your going through this again.  I am hoping for a speedy recovery.
@climbingwife, your Vermont vacation sounds wonderful

Can I tell you 5 days in Vegas is a loooooong time?  I’m on day 4... only down $20 but I’m really not a gambler.  I had wanted to come home today but the flights were cheapest tomorrow.  @short+sassy, lol according to my dad we hit 4 ace’s the other day too... or deuces?  One of them.  Got a nice $200 hit but I don’t even remember doing it!

  • @CharmedPam I feel the opposite. I like longer Vegas trips. There’s so much good food and so many shows to see. The thing that gets in the way is my wallet.

  • *hugs* @mrsconn23 congrats @charlotte989875
I've had a head cold since yesterday that I just can't shake (I usually get over things quickly)...I daydreamed all day about getting home from work and just laying on my bed in silence.  Alas dinner has to be made, served and cleaned up after, homework has to be completed, and baths have to be given  :|such is life

If you're playing quarters and Double Double Bonus video poker, 4 aces (without the kicker) pays 800 credits, ie $200.  4 aces with the kicker (2, 3, or 4 on the 5th card), pays 2,000 credits, ie $500.

But then, also on Double Double Bonus.  A 4-of-a-kind with 2s and a kicker (3, 4, or A) also pays 800 credits, ie $200.

Playing quarters on Deuces Wild, four-of-a-kind with 2s pays 1,000 credits, ie $250.

So it could actually be any one of those 3 scenarios for a quarter machine with max. bet played.  If the payout was somewhere in the neighborhood of $200-$250.

5 days in Vegas IS a long time, if you all are primarily spending it in the casinos.  But there is actually a lot to see in Vegas and the surrounding area, outside of gambling.  There are museums and shows.  Amusement rides.  Bus trip to Hoover Dam and/or Lake Mead.

  • @mrsconn23 All the hugs and vibes. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom and the ICU.

@charlotte989875 how exciting! We didn't find out until the 20 week ultrasound and we both wanted a girl. When the tech told us it was a girl I immediately burst into happy tears. H was so ecstatic as well.

I kept thinking today was Wednesday as well. I feel like I have so much to do at work before I go out next Wednesday. I need everyone to slow their roll with issues so I can get stuff wrapped up and then bug my backups with their one-off questions while I'm out.
  • How was it @ILoveBeachMusic I really want to see that movie bc I loved the 90s version but am I bit afraid I won’t like the new one

I saw it with my sisters a couple weeks ago. Loved it. The only thing is there is some timeline jumping around that isn’t well defined. But it’s well acted and beautiful.

I really liked it and the way they did do the timeline jumping! It did take some thinking about which time the scene was in but I think it added to the movie. Little Women was my favorite book as a child, so I was worried about how it would hold up to the book (I've never seen the other movie versions). I think it did very well considering there was a lot to pack into a movie. As usual, I cried several time just like I did when reading the book.
  • Now you guys are making me want to go see it. Guess I should have gone Monday when I was off. Have to wait for RedBox now at this point
